He Said Immersion? Mark Bursa & I were only discussing on Friday night the extreme unlikelihood of Colin & Graham collaborating without Bruce also on board (to calm the waves?). Not an impossible duo by any means, but unlikely. Maybe it should be Colin, Graham, Malka & Elvander (Wire's answer to Wings & Plastic ONO all rolled into one????) Another the Paul said >>>>how about a collaboration that could happen: bruce gilbert/thurston moore It has happened, on Root by Thurston Moore (Lo Recordings). It's not one of Bruce's most essential works by any means, but the CD is worth hearing. Thurston Moore sent samples of his guitar playing to 100 artists to mix. 25 were used on the CD and the rest could be heard at an installation. The best tracks were the ones by Add N to X, Derek Bailey & Merzbow. Some more unlikely collaborations: Immersion remix V/Vm Kids Indestructable with special guest vocalist Badly Drawn Boy Mark E Smith & Bono sing 'Auld Lang Sine Wave' Mark E Smith & the Orb (A lot of wind blowing little flabby clouds across the grotesque ultraworld) V/Vm & Scanner collaborate on a head shaving art installation for charity Jimmy Pursey & Madonna do a photo book together Brian Eno & Eminem play disco metal ambience New Order with Billy Corkhill & Dizzy Gillespie LUYH! If you didn't like Mummer or English Settlement than I don't think you'd enjoy much of their subsequent output. I rather like most of their stuff, but I think Black Sea has weathered the best. (Their mid 80s stuff does suffer a bit from overproduction, and Big Express was their 'Manscape') Has anyone heard the thing Andy Partridge did with Harold Budd? Is it any good?
