I have a friend called Jennifer who is a dead spit for Gareth Southgate. Both of them could eat an apple through a tennis racquet (hope she isn't reading this). I'm trying to think of more football Wire lookalikes and all I can think of is Mike Thorne/Alan Whittle which isn't really up to much. Change subject - was in selectadisc, Berwick st on Saturday and saw a vinyl copy of 154 in the window with `154' printed on the sleeve. What is this - some sort of bootleg reissue? Although KC and Wire are probably 2 of my 3 (w/ VU) favorite "rock" bands, I have to admit I can't see this either. I CAN imagine Fripp playing on a Lewis album or Lewis singing on a Fripp solo album, but that's just a little different. I tend to disagree here. If you only value music for the novelty of it, fine. But then you shouldn't be listening to ANY Dylan or Beatles :) However, I like the actual tunes, and some of the stuff Exploited and even GBH wrote really sticks in my mind (Punk's Not Dead, Sex and Violence, Maggie, Moonshine, etc). Just because they were using a proven formula doesn't make them crap right away. Of course, doing punk by numbers (as any other musical style!) is bad, but who hasn't written a filler song? Even Sex Pistols, Clash, X-Ray Spex and Wire had. The question really is just in the ratio of good stuff to filler/style-by-numbers. For example - I don't like a lot of stuff Velvet Underground recorded. However, for me the good stuff from VU consists of one album and a half (WL/WH and half of first album), so I wouldn't dare call them crap, where, say, Blink 182 for only got one good tune - Dammit - so I would consider them to be one-hit-crap-wonder; what if I for whatever reason didn't like WL/WH and loved a Blink 182 album? I would call VU crap and B182 my favorite band (and as a subproduct I wouldn't be on this list); that would have nothing to do with the fact that VU were punk way before punk happened and B182 pretend to be punks way after. And now after what must be the longest paragraph I ever written - what does it have to do with King Crimson? Syarzhuk

Why?!! 2. Silo over Germany! Someone get Silo to play in the UK....preferably Manchester. Come on Graeme!!!! 3.New Wire LP is going to be "totally unlike anything previously released by the band". Now thats a bit tantalising! Its not going to be more '12TimesU'/Colin remixes 'Crazy About Love' type things I presume. Come on Mr Eden and Mr Grannell....you know stuff! ....throw a few more titbits to us mere mortals!!!! Maybe as some listees seem to desire, they have gone Prog Rock and got Greg Lake, Darren Emerson from Underworld and Robert Palmer in to collaborate on a cover of the theme from the Generation Game Prog rock or not, I hope Wire are not going to expect us to do "a Marillion". i.e get their remaining fanbase to sponsor the recording of their new LP by paying for it in advance of the actual recording. Apparently this worked a treat....but its a bit tragic isn't it? P.S. My fellow 'Asshole' Dylan-sceptics, please note the complete lack of remorse from our dear friend from 'So Cal'.
