No they didn't. That was Killing Joke's initial intention but later Jaz felt that it would be sick to sue a dead man. There was talk of Jaz invoking a curse upon Kurt Cobain though... BTW Killing Joke - Democracy sounds a lot better 2nd time around, especially Aeon - I like the way they sound like Abba doing disco at times but still shit on all those weak metal bands that think they're so hard. This is better than Suns (although Adorations & Wintergardens are better than anything on Democracy) & Gate (their nadir) but Pandemonium is a much better album along similar lines and it does get a bit samey. Lanterns or Absent Friends must've been the song that reminded Dan of Leatherface? Still sounds too stadium friendly to me though. Lanterns makes me think of a lighters in the air geordie drinking anthem! I have not heard much from Get Ready, but this b-side is the best thing that I have heard from them in a long time... it is different for them... it has tempo changes... and it is nothing that the post-True Faith fan would expect... it seems to be a brilliant track and one of their best b-side, along with 1963 and Everything's Gone Green. The difference on this track is the production by Arthur Baker, instead of Steve Osbourne as in the LP, and a surprising match-up for this sound. cheers! - -fernando ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2001 02:25:46 +0100 From: Tim Subject: [idealcopy] You dirty f**kin rotter...... Something to get you old punks going from the official Thames Television website. Seems they are now taking credit for inventing Punk rock: "If Benny Hill occasionally courted controversy, some of Thames' factual programmes caused storms of it. " "In 1976, the local news programme, Today, pitted the late Bill Grundy against the Sex Pistols in a live broadcast - the resultant four-letter tirade is still remembered as a highpoint in punk rock history." _________________________ The Kids Are Alright http://www.kidsindestructible.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Aug 2001 18:59:48 -0700 (PDT) From: Felton Frog-Mon Subject: [idealcopy] A funny thing happened, various stuff and a rant! Greetings y'all! I feel kind of silly now, but I had been despairing about the lack of a Wire-related section in my favorite record store. Then I realized that they had been filed in the Punk/Indie section! I also found that Dome had their own section! Sheesh, I always assume they will be in the Wire section! Suffice to say, I picked up the copy of "Yclept" and noticed two copies of Dome 1/2. No 3/4, though, which I am currently hunting for! On a related note: there was a used copy of a green-colored album by "He Said Omala" called 'Matching Crosses'. Can anyone give me a thumbs up/down take on that album? It's kind of pricey and Wire-related solo works have been pretty uneven in my book! Currently listening to: Peter Murphy - Alive, Just For Love Vas - Offerings Front Line Assembly - Live Wired Tears for Fears - The Seeds of Love Dome - Yclept D'Cuckoo - Umoja Garbage - Ver 2.0 Delerium - Karma Dead Can Dance - Toward the Within Radiohead - Amnesiac On a different note.... I have been kind of generally disappointed/angry at Sony records for their general disinterest in the music they own the rights to. The prime example being the recently-mentioned Bill Nelson album "On a Blue Wing" which they have not released on CD. Yesterday I read something that REALLY ticked me off about them! I was on a site called 'Litany' that deals with Skinny Puppy and related projects. It turns out that this week "Back and Forth, Series V" is due out, which is a live reunion concert SP did in Dresden last year. One of the standout tracks "Hardset Head" had to be dropped at the last minute due to .....grrrrr SONY! Apparently Sony bought American Records and owns the rights to the songs on SP's "The Process" album and wouldn't allow the use of the song for this album... those fuckers. OK - on a more positive note, at least KMFDM has reformed and has a new album due within the next 6 months or so! stay Ideal and keep fighting the good fight, you crazy Copyists!! If you listen some Curve radio sessions, you will understand what he missing in Curve sound. but, album is good, nothing spectacular but it grown on me with every new listen, and i must admit i like it very, very much. when i first heard Republic i hate it, but became one of my favourite of NO. song called " primitive notion " somehow remind me on JD works. i think that this " new material " is very grateful to be played live. as i said before i will treat GR as " lost " album beetwen Brotherhood & Technique... but why that True Faith remixes 2001.. True Faith/1963 was PERFECT single.. i was upset when they touch original version of 1963, but like it anyway.. at least i am happy until some will not put their hands on Special.. rgds, mileta rgds, mileta > > cheers! > -fernando ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2001 00:18:48 -0700 (PDT) From: kevin eden Subject: [idealcopy] last night i mostly listened to: dj cheb i sabbah - Shri Durga ===== kevin eden wmo limited, po box 112, stockport, cheshire, sk3 9fd, uk e-mail: wmouk@yahoo.com web: www.wiremailorder.com "dreams that money can buy" Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo!
