See and hear 5 men playing this classic-album. They even tried to copy the gaps between the tracks and succeeded. OK the sound of Colin's voice should be one or two octaves higher and sounds sharper, but the sound mesmerised very well. It was down at Gibbys bar. Let's say a kind of pub. Warm, Shoulder to shoulder and Leeuw - beers. An extra non-Pink Flag track: I am the fly was played in a sound like the Pink Flag. And after the show I talked with some people who were to young for hearing the Pink Flag album when it came out and they mentioned this is fantastic and wondered why Wire never played Vera those days. I hope they will get a chance with the real men. This week Locust? And a tip from a visitor there called the Dead C from New Zealand. Are there ideal copy list members who knows them? I am curious. Graeme? And Locust, the Vera paper compare's them with DEVO. I've only heard 'New Horizon' on a Factory Video (which is an OK Joy Divison-y thing with a rather atmospheric video shoot around the Lancashire moors) and Looking from a Hilltop (which is a rather tepid New Order by numbers thing). I'm willing to accept that I haven't heard the best of S.25, so convince me why I should listen to these! This reminds me of that covers LP Duran Duran did as they were on the skids as SM are now. It included a cover of White Lines by Grandmaster Flash which made them a laughing stock and pretty much was the last nail in their UK career coffin. Oh well heres hoping! But I kind of want to hear this record, in the same way when I had my wisdom teeth taken out recently I wanted to take the tooth home. Various listees mentioned 'Tuxedomoon' I have no idea who these are, and all I can say is that it is a dreadful name for a band and conjurs up a really trashy, new romantic image. Mind you I'm in a band with a shit name so what do I know? However none of you have explained why Wire fans might wish to hear this band or where they were coming from. Just as a weird question... does any one know what the original first pressing of 2nd Annual Report (with all the inserts, the one limited to 768 copies or whatever) goes for these days? I know that Record Collector listed it at 300 UKP back in the late 80s... sorry for the morbid capitalist question... ;-) - -f. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Aug 2001 21:52:01 EDT From: Eardrumbuz@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Jim Kerr Sectioned under Throbbing Gristle Act hi tim, okie dokie, as far as tuxedomoon is concerned , there are folks on this list much more knowledgeable about their work than i am, but i do have one album, some material on comps, and a steven brown lp, and i had the great opportunity to see them play in the early 90's (i forget exactly when-any new yorkers remember the gig at limelight?). anyway, i believe someone posted some urls for mp3s. do check them out. now, about section 25...they are one of my favorite bands, and i would love to convince you to seek out more of their music...however, the two tracks you heard may be the best representation of their early (new horizon) and later (looking from a hilltop) work. there are songs on always now that have more driving beats than new horizon, but the atmosphere/mood is much the same. i have a feeling from reading your post that you may be more interested in these songs than the later ones. although i don't care too much for the guitar playing on the newest stuff, you may be interested to check the songs out (for free) at section25.com, where you'll also find mp3s of some older, never before released stuff. looking from a hilltop was the hit off the album from the hip. their use of the roland drum programming (tr505 maybe?) was groundbreaking at the time. it is believed that many u.s. house/techno people caught hold of (and were highly influenced by) the band on their 1985 u.s. tour. incidentally, looking from a hilltop was produced by bemusic (barney sumner's company). hope this helps, paul c.d. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Aug 2001 21:57:03 EDT From: Eardrumbuz@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Bottom line on 2nd Annual report In a message dated 8/13/01 9:38:36 PM, adrift@endlessblue.com writes: > >Just as a weird question... does any one know what the original first >pressing of 2nd Annual Report (with all the inserts, the one limited >to 768 copies or whatever) goes for these days?
