John Foxx.....Metamatic + b-sides reissue cd.... The Garden + b-sides reissue cd.... i am excited that The Golden Section and In Mysterious Ways will be reissued at the end of this month with all b-sides !!! this is great considering The Golden Section was NEVER released on cd in the uk or us (only in Japan)......all four of these Virgin era albums are great..and they are all different from each other stylistically....a good cd to check out as well would be the two he did most recently for his own Metamatic label: Cathedral Oceans -one of the most beautiful cds i have heard...John explores his love of churches/cathedrals with a beautiful and shimmering choral ambience...yep, just john and layers of his voice, with minimal ambient synth...i believe in the ambience of several churches is where this heavenly instrumental album was recorded......his most recent effort, Shifting City, with Louis Gordon is a wonderful cd along the same lines as the futuristic synth stuff from the fist album "Metamatic", but with strong leaning to the techno/ambient/electronica of the late 90's......check em' out all good stuff from a quality artist.......oh by the way, his more punk band oriented stuff (some produced by Eno, Plank) is really fun as well...... Come on Craig! Its August and time you fed us mere mortals a few more globules of infotelligement from the Wire Valhalla that is Wireviews. So Where are Brucie & the boys? My imagination is running riot. Has Colin been busy producing a new LP by his one of his uncles/cousin/nephews or a new Colin Newman tribute band from Hull? Or remixing a remix of one of Bumpy's remixes of one of Malkas remixes of Colins remix of a Silo remix of a Lobe track? Has the concept of Wire itself morphed into a physical being, decided to go solo and leave all the members of the band and call itself 'Eriw'? Have all the other members of Wire decided to become organic farmers, apart from Robert Gotobed who has opened a boutique specialising in sleeveless t-shirts which he invented and are all the rage this summer. Have they found out where Syd Barrett lives and invited Kraftwerk, My Bloody Valentine and Scott Walker round for tea? For the next ten years? Or are they in Peter Gabriels studio recording a new Concept LP with ELO's Jeff Lynne producing? Featuring guest spots from Dave Gahan, Basement Jaxx, Robert Fripp and Graeme Rowland?
