Oddly enough I was playing some Wire CDs to a mate of mine the other night. He decided that 154 sounded like a compliation of a band's history in that it didn't sound as if it was recorded in 1979 or in any one year at all such was the diversity of the tracks. He thought that the 80s stuff sounded like PSB, NO, even worse...Tears for Fears. For the record I like PSB. Used to hate em but repeated playings of Discography when I used to work in a record shop did me. Particularly Left to my own Devices. Changing the subject slightly has anyone been to or going to the David Thomas Mirror Man production? We went to see it on Monday at Warwick Arts Centre. Anyone who prefers the Dome side of Wire might like to have a look at the Volcano the Bear website. http://www.volcanothebear.co.uk Plenty of MP3s. I don't if I can describe them as local lads done good but they have had a CD out on United Dairies, have recently toured the US (which probably explains why I haven't seen them around in Leicester for a while) so they're in good company. Firstly, news from London is that Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto have finished their album of all-new material! It should see release later this year (date and title to be determined). This is NOT going to be a Buzzcocks record - it's just the two of them, working together for the first time in over 20 years. In other news... A documentary called "I Swear I Was There" will air on UK TV on May 31st. It focuses on the Sex Pistols legendary Manchester show that was promoted by Howard & Pete. A book by the same name is being published to accompany the programme. The Offspring's cover of "Autonomy" is out now on various "Want You Bad" CD singles as follows!!
