They are a New York 5 piece heavily influenced by (or sound like) Television, The Fall, Stooges, Velvets. Floppy hair and leather jacket. As far as I'm aware, the Colourbox tune was never used, though obviously it should have been. T.V. people were still very much Oxbridge then, so Chris Rea was the big owl. The GBV song was famously made use of by Andy'Viking'Fordham as his 1998 entrance music- Frimley Green, to a man, was astonished. Earlier in 1987, Stefan 'the Swede' Lord had tried to make use of 'This Flight Tonite' by the Nazz - an incident recalled mainly due to the thing sticking on McCaffertys' voice as he sang the words "Lady, I'm gonna" causing Lord to trip and dislocate his 'barrel' finger. As they say, comedy is merely tragedy happening to someone else. so there you have it... ian.s.j. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 May 2001 21:01:27 +0100 From: "ian jackson" Subject: [idealcopy] OT-Strokes/Mouse On Mars Tim wrote :- re the Strokes, Not sure, press is bubbling away for them but I haven't heard em...
