Definately one of the underrated bands of the nineties. And lots of Prog influence! I liked their second album, Valentino... One learns so much on this list. Stinky toys--I had that single, good cover as I recall, but somehow I didn't keep it long . . . . They were French? I had an LP for a while by a French band--I only saw it that one time--which had a cover of Eno's "Needles in the Camel's Eye." I shouldn't have sold it, it wasn't that bad--who were they?? The album had a spiraling Constructivist cover. Robert > Robert, > > << "I once saw a photo of them. I think that Flipper etc suffered from relationship probs between US and UK indie labels - it took a lot of em a long time to realise that promoting records was not nec a bad thing. Not that some bands were ever going to sell on the same level as Pixies, D Jr etc. too noisy/rude/abstract. Pixies, D Jr had songs that could be played in night clubs. However, why Black Flag weren't as pop in the uk as they could have been? They played over here with H Rollins as a skinhead which got misinterpreted. They had the song White Minority remember? From UK pov - I know that SST never fulfill the distribution company's requirements and never have their best sellers in stock - at least when Rough Trade distributed them. I thought/think Damaged was/is one of the ultimate LPs. Along with the Stooges Raw Power - Good examples of 'crap' production sounding 'good'? I'd recommend it to anyone. John Yahoo!
