I was only a yougster, but at the time a big Devo fan, and the show was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the film of Booji Boy getting his head crushed in some piece of industrial machinary, followed by the scene in which he has his bandages removed revealing his altered image. I don't have a clue what all that was about, but it was funny at the time. Rick>>>>my biggest fear is to end up with a "William Shatner sings Wire!!" sound!! That could be nasty.... You must sleep well!!! It could be a work of sublime comic genius. Shatner's version of 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' is the funniest recording I've ever heard which didn't involve Yamantaka Eye or John S. Hall. He really breathed 'new life' into 'Mr Tambourine Man' in a way that even the subversive fast Mode boys couldn't have topped. Only Einsturzende Neubauten could perform Hamlet with more overbearing pizazz! Michael>>>>I kind of like the way he just gets together w/ people, plays, and puts the recording out. This perhaps is an attempt to follow free-jazz traitions rather than album rock? Michael was talking about Thurston Moore rather than William Shatner of course... What are your favourite Thurston Moore recordings? Can you give a short description of each? Also completely forgot the 'Silver Session' feedback CD which is actually my favourite recent one after SYR1! I had no idea that Goo picture was based on a real life event. Kind of makes it even closer to the bone though... putting things into perspective, the guy's arm is way too long. Picture yourself Following the Locust with Marshmallow Eyes! Katherine>>>>Is this for real? Bonnie Tyler certainly was credited as singing Total Eclipse of the Heart and there was definitely a lady performing it at Reading who got pelted with bottles of piss. It might have been an imposter as it is altogether likely that by then the original 'Bonnie' had been abducted by aliens. It is possible that Bonnie had no idea what she was singing about and had been duped by forces beyond her control. Whatever, the bikers were not happy to be hearing about ol' bright eye and reacted accordingly! Actually they pelted everyone who played with piss whether they liked them or not, but Bonnie and Meatloaf got the worst of it. Those bikers eh? Riders on the storm the lot of 'em! Lock up your hats! Later Damien Hirst would cause a stink (of formaldehyde) with sheep framing, but this was Crass' instant protest at 'friend of Pinochet' Madcow Thatcher's Winston Churchill complex and resulting war. If only the French government had allied themselves with Galtieri and ordered a few bombs to be dropped on London, her party would have been complete! Steve Ignorant railed a tongue twisting tirade and broke the record for most swear words ever shouted in a song that wasn't about rugby. This seemed an altogether reasonable and sane reaction to a war which had been engineered as little more than a way of gaining votes from blind patriotic sheep. Crass sold a large number of records because they put legendary 'Pay No More Than' signs on every cover and mostly they got them out for about half the price most of the other labels were charging. Back in the eighties the Salisbury branch of Our Price kept a full stock of Crass singles because the low price meant they flew out simply due to curiosity. Everyone seemed to have a copy of the 49p 'Reality Asylum'. Radio play became an irrelevance. Crass had a lot to say and plenty heard it by word of mouth! Crass were censored from rock pops charts and questions were asked in parliament about them. Police harrassment was a regular occurrence. They kicked up a bit of a racket!
