"Path Through The Forest" by The Factory (late 60's Dutch > >psychedelic band). See " Ceremony". i remember hook saying that he took the bass line to thieves like us from the song emma by hot chocolate. i believe there are others, none of which make him any less great. he is the greatest! my 2 cents on the best/worst: phil collins should certainly take the microphone and the drum kit (although i really don't think he's a bad drummer. it's just the singing drummer is perfect for this group)...mariah carey can be guest vocalist, cuz i'm sure being put in a guest spot she'll try to fill every second with her who cares how many octaves of blabbering nonsense...how bout whats his face from van halen on bass?...and why not eddie himself on guitar, or better yet, one of the gazillion lame van halen immitators. the only thing worse than a singer who doesn;t know when to shut up (sorry moz, as much as i like your songs, yer guilty of that sometimes) is a guitarist with the same disease. can cher sing in this band too? best band, for me, would be: vini reilly- guitar and beauty peter hook-bass and attitude bruce mitchell and, trust me, stewart copeland on drums- yeah, i kinda like the 2 drummer thing. call me a dead head, but it worked for the swans, godspeed you black emperor, and ornette coleman! besides, i really do think copeland is a fantastic drummer. speaking of ornette...let's throw in another guitar, maybe fripp or robin guthrie...or gilbert?... and for a second bass, let's take our man lewis or wobble, allen, or deal would fit well for me too. i think the singing job will be a rotating one, but let's say the lyrical contributions could come from mr newman, mr partridge, mr black francis, and i'm sorta fond of a mr grant lee phillips. i'd better stop paul c.d. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2001 01:19:59 -0800 (PST) From: Rick Hindman Subject: [idealcopy] OT - web storage for songs...and some questions! To those ideal copyists... OK, based on some online research and suggestions from some of the folks from the list, I ended up starting an account with acidplanet.com under the user name "Mr Suit" (hee hee) and uploaded an mp3 file called pastiche_1.mp3. I am planning on continuing to use that site for storing songs. If someone has better site to post music files, lemme know! Acidplanet can be a bit cumbersome, but seems pretty nice so far. My second choice was MP3.com, but you can only upload from a CD! I am not about to waste a whole CD for 2 minutes of electronic screwing around! BTW - I'm all into this music composition thang and would love to see a "list" song come to life! RJH PS - In the "Everybody loves.." book there is constant use of the term "beat combo" relating to Wire in the late 80's/early 90's. So what does that particular term refer to? I can assume an answer, but it seems like there is an actual definition that I am missing! PSS - picked up the Fall's "SeminaLive" album (my second, so far) and quite like it! Thank you all for the referrals! PSS - For whatever reason a HUGE number of unused Wire albums have suddenly shown up at two of my favorite record stores! What's up with that?!! Yahoo!
