After Bow wow wow, didn't he end up in the Chiefs of Relief with Paul Cook? Ashman's dead of course, sadly succumbing to diabetes, IIRC. I have got the Peel sessions cd. It's pretty good, although it seems to have too many songs about bondage! I really like "Friends"...nice touch of humour there... Of course, it all went bad for phase 2 ants, when they replaced Kevin Mooney with Gary Tibbs, and started all that dandy highway man stuff. Peaked too soon. Confession: During first year at school I went to a fancy dress party as AA, white stripe and all. Confession number 2: For some reason I dreamt about Graham Lewis last night. I was drawing a picture of him, not unlike the Angela Conway sketches in Kevin's book. What can it mean? Yeah, I only read about Bryan Ferry an hour ago. Was Tibbs with Roxy Music when Wire supported them then? //// i'm pretty sure it was the "manifesto" tour and tibbs would have been playing. i've never seen a report on one of those gigs , although the "dominoe" lp and 2 bootleg singles all come from the montreux gig and that sounds pretty good. presumably wire were warming up empty mega-domes? I dig the pop stuff in a different way than I dig the early stuff. They were far better than the Pistols at combining fashion and punk - and they succeeded where the Pistols didn't in bringing sex to the mix. //// i think steve jones perpetually tried to bring sex into the mix actually.... :-) The early-middle pop stuff (Prince/Friend/Strip/Vive Le Rock) doesn't hold up very well lyrically or musically, though Marco's guitar remains brilliant throughout. ///// of those 4 i think "vive le rock" has some moments. "prince" and , especially , "strip" must be 2 of the worst albums i've ever paid about 50p for. and i'm ashamed to say this means i have some phil collins in my collection....... That's my excuse. At least as it feels today.
