I'm in as well. I think it would be even more interesting, since a few people already offered to assemble it, that anyone who can would do it as well - then we'd have a few different mixes to the same tracks, each track and each mix done by a different person. What do you think? giluz ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 12:07:17 +0200 From: "giluz" Subject: [idealcopy] OnTopic: 12 times you I just went through my personal e-mails at home yesterday, and found a message from Colin sent to me on the 16/11. He asked me to pass it around, so here it is, and sorry for the delay: >>Picked up from the IC list that there is some confusion about the 7". Here's the latest from the horse's mouth. We were expecting stock to be delivered to Cargo by the 13th but due to a production fuck up the delivery got delayed. We are expecting it to come in now on either Friday or next Monday. Stock will be delivered to posteverything and I'll put an announcement about prices / ordering on the pf site when we have it. We didn't have a general discussion about this but my gut feeling is that we should be selling through pf.com for around 3 pounds (plus the usual postage rates which on 7's is 1 pound for the world for the 1st and 50p for additional). ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 09:33:05 EST From: PaulRabjohn@aol.com Subject: [idealcopy] sniffing glue just finished the sniffing glue compilation , very good it was too. sadly not one mention of wire (boo! hiss!) , i guess they needed the space for all those johnny moped/models/eater/chelsea features..... only kidding , its a great read. i had a quick compare of that new book with my ancient dog-eared copy of "the bible" , a previous compilation (just of issues 1-10 , not the final 3). that previous book did a neat job of cutting out all the pre-punk stuff (blue oyster cult , pub rock bands..) but it also included some neat photos that weren't in the original mag (and so aren't in this new everything-included version. pity). sad thing is the print quality on the photos is awful in the new book , they've used rough paper and it hasn't really worked. whereas the old cheapo version had nice clear photos on white paper. also the old ads are fun to see now they've been re-inserted. make a nice xmas present for your granny maybe? p ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 09:33:55 EST From: "Syarzhuk Kazachenka" Subject: RE: [idealcopy] Off Topic - list members musicians >The next step would be a network based virtual session, in which you >can jam over the internet (still a few years for this to be applied >to analogue, though you can already do it via MIDI instruments). Our drummer lives in Vienna, so we can record live sessions only when he comes on a visit. The rest of the work, which is post-production (editing, mixing, etc.), we do seperately, exchanging information and music files via e-mail or just regular snail mail. So I could start mixing a track, pass it on to him to continue working on, then he would send me what he did with it, etc... What I was referring to is an actual live session over the net. Cubase VST 5.0 claim to have an application that does this with MIDI - i.e., you can have two cubase programmes on each side of the connection, and they would be synchronised, so you could mix, edit, play and record together. Since MIDI is basically a very small and fast connection protocol, it can be done. There's also a thing called - mm, I forgot what it's called (those computer language initials are awful), but it can recognise that the MIDI track you were playing was using a piano sound as an output, and it can find the closest sound on the other user's sound module and play it for him. For this to work with audio files as well you need to have ultra-fast connections and huge bandwidth. I'm sorry if I sound a bit vague, but I'm not very good with the technicalities of all this stuff, I just know it can be done. cheers, giluz ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 11:13:04 EST From: WAndyComer@aol.com Subject: [idealcopy] sniffing glue... what's the lowdown on this "sniffing glue" book? author? publisher? intrigued, andy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 10:45:21 -0600 From: "tube disaster" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] sniffing glue... it's a compendium of the (12?) issues of the premiere UK punk zine from back in the day, Sniffin Glue, mostly done by Mark P(erry), later of Alternative TV.
