Is Pink Flag the new Drill? Five different recordings of Pink Flag have been released so far this year and from the samples of the new 7" it seems this is the song they are jamming on to reinterpretation and mutation, as the band did with Drill. By next year we could have a new Pink Flag album consisting of twelve interpretations of Pink Flag. And I'd welcome it. The new straight version has such an incredible grinding, roiling--thanks to Graham's shifting and insistent bass, heavily textured quality, practically a Dome treatment, that is so seductive it can stick in the mind for days, continuing to mutate. . . . As for the new 7", I sent an inquiry on Monday and no response yet. Giluz, is Pink.Flag.com taking your order or did you go elsewhere? Does anyone know how limited the limited edition is? Seems like its very much a Colin Solo effort but presumably the others have sanctioned the whole thing. The service was exemplary, the price...OK... The albums, still sealed (not re-sealed) and flat My only gripe was that the Canadian pressing of The Planets' Spot was poorly mastered and to this day i prefer my crackly British pressing to the (overly) quiet canadian press. That problem is no fault of LPNOW , but *do* inquire as to the country of origen - do not assume US. My experience was that in the 80's Canadaian companies released a lot of 'new wave' material which was less available stateside. The quality of these pressings varied wildly. I do not recall any particulars as to which companies were 'bad'... or when... I mean in no way to imply that US pressing standards were consistant or superior, quite the contrary. Japan is the only country I found consistantly excellent at that time. I *do* recall that Enigma did a pretty good job at quality control stateside tho... d _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Which five versions are you referring to? I'm only familliar with the two in the Third Day CD and the one from the All In The Brochure CD. The new 7" is a 12XU remix - or maybe you're referring to Pink Flag as an album? Actually, 12XU is quite similar to Drill, especially because of it's dugga beat (I wouldn't mind hearing a mix combining both - it's a pity no-one did it on the Dugga Dugga Dugga CD [except for 12XDrill, which was the only live track on the album]). > > As for the new 7", I sent an inquiry on Monday and no response yet. Giluz, > is Pink.Flag.com taking your order or did you go elsewhere? > No, it does not appear in PinkFlag although I expect it will soon. Cargo didn't answer my e-mail of the previous week, so I just ordered it via SisterRay, but now I hear it's been delayed by a week... giluz ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V3 #344 *******************************
