In my opinion the Pigs were not a pony, one trick or otherwise. I never had the record, which may or may not stand up to repeated listening, but I did see them live a few times and remember that there was variety in their music, and that one set could be very different to another. But even if they had played The Man's > game, I don't think "Not Waving But Drowning" would be featuring in TV ads. I've been away so I'm a bit behind - someone else may have commented on this but if you enjoyed This Heat you should try Hayward's next band Camberwell Now. They were a softer version of the same really. Very tunefull mostly. The line up was drums, bass and tape-switchboard, this being a pre-sampler keyboard each key of which switched on a pre-recorded tape. Great stuff. The CD "Alls Well" (I think) has almost everything they released on it. I was also at the ICA and it was the only time I've ever seen members of the audience dash for the exits due to the sheer volume. It was really oppressive and I felt like joining them but was young and didn't want to look uncool ! I don't know if they played outside London in the UK but they definitely played in Europe. Oh I love the sixth-form wordplay too. Very terse. They used an inferior method of storing the inf. on the CD. You can easily tell the difference between PDO discs and a standard CD. Chris. Look around the inside ring of the CD. Etched into the disc are a bunch of numbers and letters. This tells you who manufactured the disc. The World Serpent discs had the code PDO on them because the pressing plant was PDO. Enough people complained and PDO repressed the discs and if you sent in your damaged disc, the would replace it. PDO had a bad bunch of runs with discs that go bad like this quickly. Eventually, it impacts the sound quality on the discs. Saturday Highlights: Buzzkunst (Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley), Goldfrapp, a Dj set by Komputer Saturday Lowlights: A live set by Simon Fisher-Turner, Conway Savage & James Johnston just failed to arouse anything in me, the bar running out of change & BEER!!! Skipping, distorted sound etc. If I remember correctly 90% of Island release are made by PDO. A couple of New Order releases on London Records are also PDO. >>i'd hate to open a jewel case one day only to find it filled with green dust or something. If 4AD used the same company then this could be good news as it might just lead to a repress of CN1 if enough people chase them! Or maybe they'll just offer some sex for you and your dog... BTW Foetus & Coil are doing the RFH 19.9.00 (I like to count up to 9!) Should be good! My copy of 8 Time is doing fine as far as I can tell, and my vinyl Newman albums and singles are still sounding as sharp as they day they were formed. Blowin' it on the Hoxy!
