I'm surprised more of you haven't said so (although I've heard from a few off-list). Anyway, there should be more to tell by Tuesday at the latest, but here's what I can tell you: Yes, the performance is supposed to be Web cast, both live and then to be archived for a time. At the moment it's not definite what the line-up will be. It could be just Pete & Howard with backing tapes, but it's also possible - and it's been rehearsed this way - that Tony and Phil will play, making for a fuller sound. There are four new songs. From what I understand, the music is all (or mostly) Pete's, done with a home computer setup and the lyrics are Howard's. They will play three or all four of these new ones on Sept. 2nd at the ICA. If people are going there expecting 1976 all over again, they'll be in for a surprise, as apparently the tracks are more experimental, not too dissimilar from some of Pete's solo work, with an industrial edge. One of the four is described as having quite a punky sound. Howard will sing, with presumably some backing vocals by Pete, and possibly by Tony. It's true that Steve isn't involved now. But that doesn't mean he won't be down the road. Initially it was just Pete & Howard getting together to see what happens, and what's happened is they've come up with 4 tracks very quickly! Phil and Tony got involved because of this ICA performance. Beyond that, everything is just speculation at this point. Obviously many of us are salivating at a chance to have Howard Devoto involved in another Buzzcocks record, but it's just too early to say. These 4 tracks could be the end of this involvement, or the beginning. Maybe this becomes a separate project...(it does have a different name, after all) Maybe Howard will write more with Pete but not perform... More to come! With the 25th anniversary year approaching, there's a lot to look forward to! - --John ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Aug 2000 22:35:44 -0400 From: "Anna Ravegum" Subject: FW: Action Alert: Ralph Rocks MTV Please act on this. > [Original Message] > From: Russel Kujan > To: > Date: 8/25/00 8:25:58 PM > Subject: Action Alert: Ralph Rocks MTV > > >From: Nader 2000 Campaign > >To: > >Subject: [Newsletter] Action Alert: Ralph Rocks MTV > >Date: Fri, 25 Aug 2000 16:19:02 -0400 > > > > > >The infamous Michael Moore and Rage Against the Machine have teamed up to > >create a music video to express their disgust of what the Republicrats have > >put forth for this year's presidential candidates.
