I happened to be lurking and HSpenser's mention of Sensoria magnetized me. Is Sensoria the song where the main chorus is "Be A Good Citizen", sung over and over throughout the song, with verses / lyrics such as: "pay your taxes", "don't litter", "be on time", "obey the law", etc et al, sung in a fast paced - baritone manner? I don't recall if the singer(s) voice(s) was echoed or was a group of voices unified at the same deep pitch (as I vaguely recall / circa 1984). Is this Cabaret Voltaire material (Sensoria) or whom? I have tried contacting WNUR 89.3 radio (N-Western University / where I heard this gem) via phone / WNUR website and the current students try to help, but so far no luck in determining who does this "Be A Good Citizen" song. Even people on the 'Name That Tune' and 'Dr Demento' posting board are baffled and have offered 'dead end' suggestions, leading to further obscurity. Does anyone with the advantage in-sight able to isolate this single version from whatever list of 40's this may classify in? It's a rare one (you may want it too). I made a statement recently, deriding the ever twitching existance of boys with guitars. I may have been a little rash, and have listed one or two exceptions that I have enjoyed over the last few years. (For those who give a shit!) BLUR. Damon is a genius, ok ok..I know, he rips off his heroes. But i do believe he has moved on from that, and Graham is a fantastic guitar player. Suede. OK OK ...so Brett's a wanker, but for imagery and great hooks, they were great up to the last LP, which is poor. Bernard was also a great guitarist. Primal Scream. OK OK...I know they aint strictly guitars, but listen to the new LP "Exterminator". It fucking rocks, angry young men at 38!!! It's there best. (Oh, you cant say that, how about "Sreamadelica"?)....an end to sacred cows.... Thats all. I'm struggling now..... But of course, the book came out just too early to include 'The First Letter'. Do any of you know of an article on the web where the origins/meanings of this album are discussed ? I'm particularly baffled by 'naked, whooping and suchlike'. It doesn't quite match your description, but there can't be many songs where the backing vocals consist of "always work - go to church - respect those in authority over you". "Sensoria" is the same song but different, closing the LP with as jaunty a step as you can imagine CV making. So different, in fact, that the 12" mix of "Sensoria" (done by John Potoker) does actually merge the two together without any obvious join. > Is Sensoria the song where the main chorus is: "Be A Good Citizen", sung > over and over throughout the song, with verses / lyrics such as: "pay > your taxes", "don't litter", "be on time", "obey the law", etc et al, > sung in a fast paced - baritone manner? The video is comprised of two films: one is a documentary - a collection of TV interviews, other documentaries and live footage - quite professional, all in stereo, covers all of the band's career, including the 80's reunion, and lasts more than an hour. The second half is a live gig circa 1972 (I think I recall rightly), which looks less professional but is excellent nevertheless. The only problem with this video is that it's so long and packed, it's very hard to go through it all in one go. giluz ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V3 #180 *******************************
