A late message regarding age and so to Lucifer Sam that got rerouted.. And Im 38 and quite proud of it... I did also see Wire at the Notre Dame Hall but then supported by Manicured Noice and The The. But I would have loved seeing all the bands you mentioned. I was in London in 77 and bought tons of symphonic rock (yes, Styx and Kansas was among them) but I also bought three singles that totally saved me from symf rock - White Riot, Peaches and God save the queen. But the only concert I saw was Ultravox - but in those days it was something extraordinary. But I would have loved to seen Clash 200 times instead of just 2. This is something completely different than the usual "vinyl sounds better than CD" argument (which is theoretically true, of course). This is about CD reissues and the way they're made: It could be something that was originally made in the 60's or the 80's - it doesn't matter - the reissues show complete disrespect towards the album and its audience. Throughout the years I bought so many CD reissues which didn't sound as good as the vinyl originals because the remix was so bad - from Iggy Pop's "The Idiot" and David Thomas' 80's albums till The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds". If someone rips off a song the record company sues him, but it seems that making a bad remix to a CD reissue is OK, and I think this is far more serious. giluz ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 May 2000 11:27:01 +0200 From: "giluz" Subject: RE: Re[2]: wire and steve albini.... > >> I would love to go to a rave, except that I'm too old for it, > and I'm not > >> into drugs - I'd just like to go and experience the music and hang out > with > >> people who like it. Yeah, and the thing about raves, contrary to what we were used to at gigs, is that most places think about people that just want to hang out without dancing or just take a break from dancing. So they provide chill out rooms and things like that. I know lots of people around my age that just do that, and the atmosphere is really infectious and people on E are really nice and easy to communicate with even when you're not on drugs. The music itself is something that has to be experienced in a club/rave context. It added a lot to my understanding of that whole electronic music thing, and it's really really fun. So age shouldn't concern you when it comes to raves. giluz ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V3 #161 *******************************
