Hey you lucky stiffs who have already seen Wire on their tour. I have a question for you. What kind of stuff were they selling? Did they have "The Third Day" CD for sale? I am anxiously awaiting the Chicago show. And could someone please list the complete setlist. Thanks, Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 May 2000 06:20:12 -0500 From: "webmaster" Subject: New WMO release May 30th Information on "gilbertpossstenger manchesterlondon" wmo 16cd is available on the website under the WMO tab. shop@wiremailorder.com http://wiremailorder.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 May 2000 11:16:59 EDT From: CaptApe@aol.com Subject: Wire in LA I never post to this list, but since I saw the boys last night, I figure now's a good time. Setlist, from what I can remember, in a somewhat sequential order: Pink Flag Silk Skin Paws Boiling Boy Lowdown what I assume to be a new song (Hypnotized?) 40 Versions An Advantage in Height Mercy (highlight of the set for me) encore: 12XU Drill (mostly instrumental, pretty damn primal version with Graham screaming) I know I am missing a song or two. Jack Rabid was in attendance, and strangely enough he said that he's not going to be at the NY show. How come Bruce looks so old and not well? That was kind of distressing. The others looked almost young again. It was amazing to see them play live after 15 years of being a fan. There was a guy doing a recording of the show, but I couldn't find him after the show. The sound at the El Rey is pretty nasty (messy mix and serious treble frequency distortion), but maybe a recording would sound okay. that's the lowdown, - -Tony ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 May 2000 16:34:19 -0500 From: george.m.hook@ac.com Subject: Chicago Information The word is that Colin Newman will be DJing downstairs at the Metro after the concert, in The Smart Bar. More to come. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 May 2000 19:28:41 -0700 From: "tube disaster" Subject: Fw: recording in chicago? The following just appeared on the Buzzcocks list from the guy (named John Lennon, oddly enough) who oversees it ... note the last paragraph in particular. Has this been mentioned before? Dan >>Saw Wire play the El Rey here in LA last night and they were brilliant! Catch them if you can. There were a number of notables there, including Jason Falkner, Brad Laner, Eric from Hole, and Jack Rabid, publisher/editor of The Big Takeover. The crowd was really, really into it! I gave Jack Diggle's Some Reality on CD and he's excited to hear it - look for a review not this coming issue, but the one after, which will also include Jack's interview with Howard Devoto, which is planned to be happening in London soon. Jack said the new issue of the Big T is at the printer's and this will include the Pete Shelley interview that I got to participate in... Oh, and Jack mentioned that Wire are going to Chicago to record the great versions of the songs they're doing on this tour with none other than Steve Albini!<< ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 May 2000 19:27:37 -0700 From: Paul Pietromonaco Subject: Once again...here it is...my Wire info Hi everyone, Okay, U.S West cannot scramble my IP addresses anymore.
