Second: I'm mercifully deleting the six or seven replied-to messages that trailed Paul's post - but PUH-LEASE, can we delete the stuff that isn't directly relevant to whatever we're talking about? Paul's not the only one failing to do this, by a long shot - seems like most posts to the list are dragging the internet equivalent of a long, straggly roll of toilet paper attached to one's shoes (or worse). The operation of the delete key is not difficult... I'm sure MTV don't consider themselves as sponsors of the arts. It has, however, been chopped down from a two hour slot, and on occassion one week's edition will largely resemble that from the previous week. They also get a bit sloppy now and again, not captioning artist or song title, which can be rather frustrating . I suppose my expectations may have been raised after one of the first ones I saw featured He Said Omala. I kind of got the picture when they did a tribute to Beggars Banquet records and didn't feature Newman's 'B' or Chromes's 'New Age' videos. . The Malka video? Unfortunately I'm not actually very familiar with any of that stuff, so I'd be pushed to name the song. The moment it came on, however, there was something unmistakable about the overall sound. Colin Newman appears in the video along with Malka, getting on and off a train, or something.
