I'm not sure where my vinyl copy came from, and it's 400 miles away at my mom's, so it may be a while before I double-check the groove etchings! I remember looking and not seeing anything there. Former idealcopy listmember Stewart Mason also thought CLOSER began with "Heart and Soul," and I think he had his vinyl at hand when we corresponded about it. Oh well. It's the only CD I've ever bothered to reprogram! More vinyl ambiguity: GET HAPPY!! I had the "other" way (vs. the must-pick-a-sequence CD) as well. I had a slight preference for "High Fidelity" as the album ender, though "Riot Act" works great too. And wasn't there a bit of a controversy with the recent reissue of the first Cheap Trick album, which put "Hot Love" first -- which actually is the way I always played it. later, Miles ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Apr 2000 08:26:16 +0100 From: "Wilson, Paul" Subject: RE: idealcopy-digest V3 #87 For Crispy Ambulance stuff, give this guy a mail. He runs LMT records and is constantly bringing out reissues of stuff by the likes of Crispy Ambulance and Section 25. james nice [jnice@ltmpub.freeserve.co.uk] Daft band names: How about Gerry and the Holograms, or even, Wir (now that is a stupid name!) Can't get funnier than Throbbing Gristle though! A good old Yorkshire term. Comsat Angels and Gang of Four debut albums should definitely be in everyone's record collection. As should the Mekons debut (but give their other 100 or so albums a miss!) All this brings back memories of seeing Gang of Four / Mekons / Delta 5 (the Leeds 3), playing on the same bill every week. Seem to remember that the Mekons always did a cover of a Gang of Four song, and vice versa. I also remember seeing the Comsats headlining a gig with U2. Well that's the way I remember it - it is possible that U2 were the headline band. First band I ever saw was Richard Hell and the Void Oids (supporting The Clash). Can't get much better than that for a first band, or can you?????? Of course I paid extra for the import. Doh! >>>>>> ha ha you should have guessed from the name change a turkey was ahoy. i've never heard this masterpiece but then i never could take u/vox seriously in the first place to be honest. Lucious Jackson - Fever In, Fever Out: I bought this on the strength of the 'Naked Eye' single, only to find out that the rest of the album did not resemble in any way that song. The rest of the album was forgettable 90's vintage so-called 'alternative' music. >>>>> well i quite like this one! i thought "under your skin" was great. Underworld - Underneath the Radar: I picked up this one as an import from a mail order place, sight unseen, thinking it was a modern day Underworld release that had slipped through the cracks... little did I know that it was the previous incarnation of Underworld, i.e. 80's pop/rock... in all actuality the music isn't horrible... it just wasn't what I expected... especially for $28.00 >>>>> you occasionally see the pre-dancefloor u/world stuff kicking around and reviewers always say "avoid". remember Freur? :-) p Cheers, ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V3 #88 ******************************
