Speaking of which, people are seemingly confused due to a misprint in the NME article. A CD containing some new Wire material will be available for PURCHASE at the show - it will not be given away. Reports suggest it will be worth the price, and then some. The WV copy of the article has also been amended. In addition WIRE presented XFM with an exclusive copy of 5 new recordings, including two new tracks. Excerpts from the interview and some of the tracks can be heard in real audio on www.isis.ie/xfm during 'SIGNAL' friday 25th FEB 9:30pm - 11pm Irish/British time. In addition, with WIRE's blessing, XFM's Planetary Sitin will be playing the first ever radio broadcast of some of these exclusive tracks tonight from 8pm to 10pm Irish/British time. cheers Bren ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Feb 2000 19:32:36 -0000 From: "ian barrett" Subject: New Boy intro Just subscribed, and as per suggestion in my 'welcome' a few notes on my origins. I'll keep this brief as I don't want to get in the way of the bootlegging debate that I've been following for the past few days, or wax irrelevent just hours ahead of the imminent resumption. So, first exposed to Wire related stuff via 'B' video on Old Grey Whistle Test (approx 1980/81?); snapped up A-Z on the strength of it (excellent!), checked out a couple of Wire singles afterwards which I didn't rate at all, checked back to the NME review of 154 (reviewd throughout as 159), decided they may have become more interesting than 'Dot Dash' suggested and so snapped up a copy. Totally bowled over. The rest has been a mixed bag of (mostly) quality gear. I'm not a completist, but consider Wire and Wire related output to be of a high calibre, and in the main, sorely neglected and underrated. Seen them live twice - Manchester 87 and Manchester 90; will be at RFH Favourite album? It varies; currently probably 154, Favourite track? as above it varies; The 15th, What Do You See? Favourite Wire - related work? varies but currently Solid or Vanish Still not heard? It Seems, Bastard, various Gilbert stuff and so on Disappointment? - P'o album on WMO reissue Coincidence? Buying a second hand copy of Dome 2 and finding enclosed a copy of the 154 EP shortly after my own had become unplayable (Vinyl heyday) Anyhow, enough from me for now; see you at the RFH ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Feb 2000 15:49:57 PST From: "" Subject: wire as all tomorrows parties three extra shows at the garage in london-have not heard anything else about this... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V3 #42 ******************************
