Maybe they're caught between their love of the original and the desire not to make a carbon copy. The result is something too close to the original to be wholly intriguing but not close enough to capture the original's qualities. >>>> agreed. i do like the ac marias cover versions actually but some of the other wire-related covers (after midnight , suzanne , blue jay way) would probably make my all-time wire-related bottom 10 chart (revised version coming soon. maybe) p ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 12:23:35 +0000 From: Steve Finch Subject: washington gig..tickets As well as the RFH gig in London , I'm planning to go to Washington '9.30 club' gig on 13May. I've tried to find ticket info on the net but only Boston and New York gigs seem to be bookable from the UK . Can any U.S. members help me on this one ?? Contact phone number/fax/e-mail etc. Any one going from Washington? - -- Steve ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 12:41:37 +0000 From: Steve Finch Subject: RFH 26FEB pre meet For those attending the RFH gig and wanting a pre gig meet up...what are we going to do..should we all wear bowler hats, wear red carnations and carry 'the Times' at a tilted angle under the right arm for recognition purposes?? Or should we look out for Ian in the Watford FC shirt!! or we could wear lion tamer outfits..... I don't know the layout of the Purcell rooms/bar at RFH..I guess the other option is for someone with a mobile with a long battery life could centralise communications on the day, or probably would need just 2 people who are planning to arrive early to provide their numbers....so the others can call them? Otherwise we will have more than 2 people in a room with a display of nervous disorder... Alternatively if Miles wants to make a list, we could all attach our mobile numbers..! I won't be there until about 18.30...if that is considered early I don't mind providing my number.. - -- Steve Finch ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 13:57:16 +0100 From: paul.rabjohn@ssab.com Subject: nottingham tickets for the nottm gig can be purchased by credit card from an agency called way ahead , t;0115 912 9000. £8.95 total. pretty good , eh? so no excuse for not going now ; who's up for it? great offer of the week. a dealer tried to sell me a "hand written letter from colin about 154" for £100. if anyone is interested in this fabulous offer i could pass on the address. p ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 01:52:52 -0500 From: "Moshe Imel" Subject: RE: washington gig..tickets Yeah me too!! - -----Original Message----- From: owner-idealcopy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-idealcopy@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Steve Finch Sent: Friday, February 11, 2000 7:24 AM To: idealcopy@smoe.org Subject: washington gig..tickets As well as the RFH gig in London , I'm planning to go to Washington '9.30 club' gig on 13May. For those who may be wondering, I think us RFH attendees have pretty much decided just to meet at the RFH bar. Someone should determine when the facility opens, if they haven't already. Steve mentions 18:30, which sounds like as good a time as any to me. >I don't know the layout of the Purcell rooms/bar at RFH..I guess the >other option is for someone with a mobile with a long battery life could >centralise communications on the day, or probably would need just 2 >people who are planning to arrive early to provide their numbers....so >the others can call them? The salient issue is really "how do we recognize each other?" I haven't thought ahead to wardrobe at all -- heck, I'm going to have my hands full getting the house straight and making a start on packing this weekend! I'm a portly fellow who resembles Jon Lovitz a bit, if that's any help... later, Miles ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V3 #31 ******************************
