They're well worth checking out if you're not familiar with them. Johnny Marr isn't in the band anymore. You can find out about the current line-up from www.thethe.com. They played some live "warm up" shows around the Eastern US in November and December, and are in Europe right now. They also have a new album out on Feb. 29 ("NakedSelf"). - -- Jason Borchers jasonmb@calweb.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 02:52:32 -0800 From: jasonmb@calweb.com Subject: The The I tried to send this message before, but I think I sent it to the wrong address. If so then drop me a line with places to drink and suggestions as to where to meet as I have a few myself. Email me at barrybraxton@excite.com to chat about it and so as not to clutter the mailing list. Anyone from the NYC area who are Wire fans get in touch. In addition, I am looking for musicians to start a cover band for fun(some obscure things and overlooked gems) so if interested get in touch! Wire is alive and well in NYC, at least at 3:30 AM on Tuesday mornings. Since joining this list (July 1998) I have made it a point to include Wire on every edition of my show "Mass Backwards" on WBAI 99.5 FM. OK, I missed once or twice. As of this morning's show, several more people are privy to the Irving Plaza show (which by the way is already listed on their web page as of at least Sunday). I don't think it will cause a major rush on the box office. At least I hope not, not before I get my tickets anyway.
