I've been to 3 gigs in the last week...Feeder, Embrace and the The..with Death In Vegas to follow and then Wire...I have to admit I have not looked forward so much to a gig as I have the Wire on the 26th. Matt Johnson (The the) hadn't played for 7 years..so that was pretty special too...he's still as sharp as ever..I would guess that his lyrical crafting would appeal to a lot of Wire fans..despite the political undertones. Since I last saw Wire in approx 1980 I have been to so many concerts but nothing stands out in the memory so much as that Wire concert at the Jeanette Cochran theatre in London all those years ago....as per the previous thread I sent a couple of weeks ago. I am also excited at the prospect of seeing them again. Perhaps all of us attending the RFH gig could/should meet up before the gig at a suitable hostelry?? When I think of heavy metal music, I think of bad 80's 'hair' bands, i.e. Warrant, Ratt, Guns-n-Roses, I MUST STOP BEFORE I VOMIT! Colin, Lewis, Bruce, and Robert have never had long enough hair to be considered anywhere close to heavy metal! I would prefer to describe Wire as 'Art-Rock for the Non-Pretentious'. Irregardless of what era Wire music we're talking about, the one think about Wire music is that it always attempts to transcend the mundane and strive to be 'art'.
