Shriekback DULL?? What drugs were you on? Shreikback were tribal and hypnotic. The songs that didn't rock or groove were poetic and quite moving. Comparing them in this way to Wire is like comparing fire and ice. Given a choice of giving up one band's output or the other's would be an impossible choice for me. They are both essential. >> Well, sorry but for me Shriekback just didn't connect. Personal taste I guess. I even went to see them in the early 80s but I was just bored by them. There were better exponents of the tribal/hypnotic at the time, like 23 Skidoo. Maybe the problem was that I WASN'T on drugs at the time!!!! I didn't compare Shriekback to Wire - quite the opposite - I saw no connection between the two.
