Hi Mike, Thanks for the tip, but the URL doesn't resolve. The server appears to be gone. I used the Intel Video Capture Utility (release 1.0 from 1997) which came bundled with my Compaq Presario. I've never tried creating video before and I naively thought it would be compatible with current video players. After checking the Intel support page, it seems that this program was a one off written for Compaq and is probably no longer supported. I should have given you CODINSTL.EXE which creates the following files in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory: IMC32.ACM 98,304 04-01-97 I263_32.DRV 391,168 05-07-97 You will now find CODINSTL.EXE on the web page: http://homepages.msn.com/terminus/vidclips/ I hope this helps. And sorry once again for not investigating this more thoroughly. Since I subscribe to the digest, maybe someone could email me directly and let me know if this works. - -Mike F ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Nov 1999 16:33:33 -0600 From: "MackDaddyD" Subject: Re: drivers for video clips Still no go for WinNT 4.0 (I've HAD IT with Win9x crashs and locks and won't go back - you can't make me) SO, I guess I'' just wait until some kind soul encodes these so I can see them. Thanks Mike, anyways for making the effort. WinTel CODECs are vague and mysterious beyond the comprehension of a mere mortals such you or I (and I have 15 years professional computer experience) Meanwhyile - the REAL challenge is the question which has been broached here previously What does/will Wire Mach III sound like? My guess is an all-acoustic chamber quartet. Graham has been secretly studying accordian ;) - ----- Original Message ----- From: "precision lies" To: Sent: Saturday, November 27, 1999 3:44 PM Subject: drivers for video clips > Big apologies to everyone who is struggling with this. Your codinstl.exe did the trick. The codinstl.exe that I had posted the link for earlier will get you the video codec, but not the audio. The codinstl.exe at your website had the missing audio codec (which, as it turns out was IMC - which is the Intel Music Coder, I believe) Thanks again for digitizing these clips - I had never seen 'em before. Take care, Paul P.S. Would you like QuickTime conversions of these clips? I can do 'em if you'd like... - ---------- > From: precision lies > To: idealcopy@smoe.org > Subject: drivers for video clips > Date: Saturday, November 27, 1999 1:44 PM > > Big apologies to everyone who is struggling with this.
