Your memory is accurate. I have this on videotape somewhere but I haven't watched it in a long time. I do remember Dave Kendall asking a bunch of clueless questions and Bruce and Graham were silent and stone faced. Colin was a bit more helpful and explained that Wire were always more interested in ideas than being proficient musicians. He said that using technology was the easiest way to carry out their ideas. The only thing I can remember Graham saying was that the album title "The First Letter" seemed "poetically correct." I don't think Bruce said a single word during the interview. In addition to the interview, they showed the video for "Eardrum Buzz." The combination of the serious interview and the wacky video piqued my interest and I picked up "The First Letter" soon afterwards. - -Mike F ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Nov 1999 14:21:38 -0500 (EST) From: Andrew N Westmeyer Subject: Re: MTV interview Excerpts from mail: 18-Nov-99 MTV interview by "precision lies"@msn.com > The only thing I can remember Graham saying was that the album > title "The First Letter" seemed "poetically correct." That's the part I remember too. It was the first Wir(e) thing I had ever seen on TV. At the time it bothered me that they were so uncooperative, but now I don't blame them! > In addition to the interview, they showed > the video for "Eardrum Buzz." Does anybody know who all those people are in the video? It looks like Bjork, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Kennedy (the MTV VJ), and maybe Matt Johnson (The The)? But who are the others? At least two of the guys out of New Order seem to be in there too, as does Dave Lee Travis, unless I am very much mistaken, which I often am :-) Craig/WV ===== >>> Craig Grannell / Wireviews >>> Visit Wireviews at: http://welcome.to/wireviews http://www.snub.dircon.co.uk/wirehome.html >>> wireviews@yahoo.com >>> __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? BTW, what do people think of the new HOX? I recently obtained IT-NESS (thank you WMOUSA) and I find it to be quite brilliant. Has the attention given to YCLEPT brushed this release aside from our collective conscious? And does anyone know about the absence of Mattias Tegner? Given the new HOX and the HSO releases, I do think Graham is the only one to have matched the brilliance of Wire outside of said band.
