I have three contentions: 1) The sequencing of the vinyl album, which is shorter by three songs, is superior to that of the CD, and it makes a big difference in the "flow" (and appreciation) of the songs. 2) "Patterns of Behaviour" is brilliant. One of Bruce's finest moments. 3) "Children of Groceries," "Small Black Reptile," "Goodbye Ploy," -- all overlooked gems. And yes, Come Back in Two Halves (re-recorded) is excellent. I haven't seen the new a-list. Any votes for Crystal Streams? Rolling Upon My Day? 3r4? Just as a point of conversation , here are my top ten (be they somewhat "overrated") 10.On returning 9. Ex lion tamer 8. Our swimmer 7. French film blurred 6. Ahead 5. Madman's honey 4. Eardrum buzz 3. Drill 2 start to move 1. In Vivo (12inch ver.) I find "Manscape" and "Wir" for that matter to be widely misunderstood. I own both and must admit , when I reach for some Wire to listen to , it's rarely one of those two. paul.rabjohn@ssab.com wrote: > > close shave there , i was worried someone might start singing the praises of keith emerson or some such horror. thankfully the moment appears to have passed........ > > anyone got to see the immersion video yet? or heard the symptom single? just curious > > looked at the new a-list , seems pretty similar to the old one. i'm not such a fan of "ahead" but clearly the majority consistently are. here's my "underrated top 10" > > 1. come back in 2 halves (re-recorded) > 2. wir ; figures in crumbs > 3. duet emmo ; heart of hearts > 4. 12 drill u (italian book cd) > 5. halo ; eclipsed > 6. dome ; anchors (peel session) > 7. colin ; ya rama dum (live 82) > 8. minimal compact ; the traitor > 9. goodbye ploy > 10. no cows on the ice > > interesting to see nothing off "manscape" in that top 30 , doesn't look like its growing on people with time. i'm not so sure it works brilliantly as a whole but i think there's some great moments in there. clearly its appeal is selective.p - -- **************************** Obie Sanders/ System Administrator ADN - --------------------------- osanders@adnc.com/ext.273 **************************** ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Nov 1999 10:04:46 +0100 From: paul.rabjohn@ssab.com Subject: Re[2]: prog rock >>>> i can see what you mean about the sequence , but i must admit i do like "life in the manscape" and "stampede". i think they got it wrong not making one of these a single to try and promote it a bit harder (maybe that was the original plan?). without ever hearing exact figures , i gather it didn't sell too well at all which was a shame. p Reply to: re: prog rock I must be one of the only advocates of Manscape on this list.
