So, what are people's thoughts on this? Personally, I'd like to witness an exciting batch of new material and if "golden oldies" are played then I hope they are suitably mangled / brought up to date (witness Advantage in Height circa 1990, etc). HSO and Immersion would be potentially very cool "solos". Of course, with the extra time to play with it's anyone's guess what Wire and their various partners in crime will come up with! Who is organising this event? Isn't there a press agent? A (god forbid) manager? Is there a plan to record? Could Wire ever make another album as good as "Deja Vu?" Oh, sorry, getting mixed up. So, what are people's thoughts > on this? When I saw Colin in Toronto on 20 Aug (my, how time flies!), he said not to trust anyone about what will be performed at RFH. In fact, Wire themselves hadn't even decided! So don't believe the rumors!! With that said... Their last reunion brought about Snakedrill, which was quite different from their solo projects at the time. Their current solo projects are not really "live show" music - by that I mean that it's not the sort of stuff you can easily perform live. But this current reunion is specifically for a live set. So it seems reasonable to suspect that whatever they come up with will be different. Let's see - if Wir sampled from Pink Flag (on "Take it"), shouldn't this new incarnation sample from the First Letter? How about a deconstructed version of "No cows on the ice"? :) (A)ndrew Westmeyer qwerty@cmu.edu www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/~qwerty "More like a teacup in a storm" -Carter ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V2 #220 *******************************
