I'm a new subscriber to the Ideal Copy mailing list, although I've been lurking for the last few weeks, so as not to make too many obnoxious beginner posts. (^_^) Let's see - I first heard Wire on a "Enigma Records" sampler. I believe it was the song Ahead. I immediately tracked down a copy of the Ideal Copy, and have been a huge fan ever since. I even used to perform a version of "Mannequin" in a band I was in once. (More like fIREHOSE's version than Wire - but that was the best I could do.) I've been collecting Wire for a long time, and have pretty much every American release they've made (both Wire and solo) - including a few promo releases. Favorite songs? Well, pretty much anything off The Ideal Copy, IBTABA, A-Z and A Bell Is A Cup. Coatings is rapidly approaching that level for me as well. I especially like things like German Shepards off the American 3" CD and other B-side versions. In other news, I too, have decided to see Wire in London in Feb. I just arranged the show tickets this morning, and am working on the transportation and accomodation arrangements. I'll be travelling from Seattle, so I think that puts me in the running for the farthest distance travelled. (^_^) Anyway, enough of my drivel. Yours in all things Wire, Paul ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V2 #216 *******************************
