PHD by the dutch musicologist and author Martijn Voorvelt (University of Leeds - University College Bretton Hall - School of Music). Wire is one of the groups being highlighted. There is even a very detailed analysis on Gilbert and Lewis piece 'Ampnoise', including 'scores' with energy structures and pitch structures. I dont know if this study can be ordered at the moment, but anyone that is interested can send me an e-mail, i will redirect it to Martijn (be patient, cause I will be on out of town for a few weeks). I will take the book to the Wire-concert in London, so everyone interested can contact me. (my seats: F27/28). best regards, Patrick ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Sep 1999 16:52:44 +0100 From: paul.rabjohn@ssab.com Subject: Re: PHD on British Post Punk and Wire sounds like a great way to spend 3 years , wonder if they'd give me a grant for a similar project? gotta be worth a try? p ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: PHD on British Post Punk and Wire Author: MIME:follon@xs4all.nl at INTERNET Date: 14/09/1999 15:29 Hi, Just to let you know: recently the very interesting study 'British Post-Punk - Experimental Pop (1977-1983) was published. OK, I'm sure you have a better reason for not attending... As for myself, I'll be driving North from my home in the Scottish Borders, picking up my ex-girlfriend in Glasgow, driving down to London and meeting my friend in Covent Garden before the show (and taking two days off work to eke out the bliss of the occasion). Anyone travelling longer distances? We'll be in seats K22-24 (I think), if anyone wants to hook up.. Stephen === __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
