Anyone know otherwise? Has this been out on CD or is this only availalble on vinyl? I particularly want to get hold of this due to my other obsession with Brian Eno. Also, no one has yet mentioned He Said Omala; I have listened to the Real Audio clips on CD-NOW but they don't give away a great deal - anyone care to comment? Also, what's wrong with 8Time? Isn't this basically a Dome record on 4AD? Anyone care to enlighten me? And another thing: Virgin Net has a review of the re-release of 154 (which includes the advice to "go out and buy 50 copies today and again tomorrow, give them to family, friends and strangers in the street" - what a pity they were unable to give it more of an endorsement!) - the review says there are 5 (five) bonus tracks - - anyone know what they are? - my current copy has the usual 4. Sorry If I'm repeating myself here: I thought that Crammed Discs had all the Tuxedomoon<"http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu:80/~scottyt/TUX.html"> catalog available-it's probably linked up to this: http://houbi.simplenet.com/belpop/groups/polyphicsize.htm but doing a search for Crammed will find the site. Peter Principle told me that the most recent Tuxedomoon project, "Joeboy In Mexico" is available through "http://www.cdnow.com" The Blaine Reineger solo cds, "Night Air", and "Broken Fingers", are worth hunting down, as are "Half out", and "Besides All That", by Steven Brown. Ecobravo the new Peter Principle project are playing with Colin and Malka at the Knitting Factory, August 14th. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Aug 1999 11:12:26 +0100 From: Mark Short Subject: Re: essentials first Trevor Dutton wrote: > > Hi all > > A number of people have recommended He Said - Hail but as far as I know this > is out of print? It's worth seeking out, but not for the one track on which Eno appears. That track is bit limp, and Eno's contribution is difficult to discern. The eno contribution is alot of DX7 atmospherics which sound nothing like the common conception of a DX7. I have read interviews where eno states a hege affection for this virtually impossible to program beast, due to the somewhat unpredictable nature of one's efforts. I also agree with the description of "Hail" as patchy, but more like a quilt than any perjoritive sense. 8-time is also a favorite and got me through many lean years when that was all that was available on CD and my turntable was in disrepair. "Ends with the Sea" is a lingtime favorite (of course my listening habits include a fair amount of material which cannot be played when my wife is home) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Aug 1999 16:13:00 +0100 From: paul.rabjohn@ssab.com Subject: Re[2]: Essentials first - negtives (of course my listening habits include a fair amount of material which cannot be played when my wife is home) >>> you mean she didn't rate kubla capol? i am surprised.............. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Aug 1999 14:58:30 -0400 (EDT) From: Barry Braxton Subject: Re: essentials first I wholeheartedly agree as it is kind of Dome-ish(is that A.C. on backing vocals?)
