If I'm not mistaken (I'm not at home to check my dusty old attic full of even dustier LPs from my misspent prog-rock pre-teen years), the leader of Gryphon went on to establish a "legitimate" career in early music circles - - Philip Pickett? - --Jeff J e f f r e y N o r m a n The Architectural Dance Society www.uwm.edu/~jenor/reviews.html ::we make everything you need, and you need everything we make:: ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Jul 1999 18:01:57 +0100 From: paul.rabjohn@ssab.com Subject: Re[2]: Gryphon ........and while we're on the subject , did anyone ever hear carter usm's version of mannequin? i never did and i've always wondered what they did to it?p ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: Gryphon Author: MIME:paul.rabjohn@ssab.com at INTERNET Date: 06/07/1999 15:58 i think its right that the gryphon singer is doing all the backing vocals on mannequin. can you tell ? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Jul 1999 10:00:22 -0700 (PDT) From: Wireviews Subject: Re: Mannequin - --- paul.rabjohn@ssab.com wrote: > ........and while we're on the subject , did anyone > ever hear carter usm's version of mannequin? i never > did and i've always wondered what they did to it?p > Regarding Mannequin, does anyone have any info on the U2 cover of this song, or even better, a recording of it? Throughout the song there's a keyboard ambiance in the background. It's better than most of the other covers I've heard. > Regarding Mannequin, does anyone have any info on the > U2 cover of this song, or even better, a recording of it? I was searching for this myself and I emailed the webmasters at various U2 sites. One of them (the only response I got) confirmed the existence of the song. Apparently U2 played it live in the spring or summer of 1978 (!). I didn't see it listed on any web page, even on lists of songs which U2 covered. So it must be pretty difficult to find a copy. But if anyone can find one, please email the list!
