well i had another succesful record shopping trip that yielded a couple of interesting items. firstly i saw a copy of the mute drivers cd (every one , i presume they only made one album?) for a quid. despite previous reservations i thought i better grab it at that money. i must report i'm pleasantly surprised ; whereas the single i dismissed before ("impossibilities") was a bland shoegazing type of thing , the lp is much more abrasive and with the politics very up front. not a total classic but some really good tracks in there so maybe i was over-critical (if you see a copy try "amsterdam" , their tale of a trip round a clog factory , heh heh).

also (for two quid , things were going well) i got the g-man "kushti" cd. a lot of the swim stuff is sort of trance/drum n bassy but this is much more techno bleepy bloopy (yes i know i'm never gonna get a job as a dance music writer , bear with me). loads of tracks listed on the sleeve but they all blend into one another so there's just 2 long tracks really. its ok in its way but i'm not sure i'd rush to buy a big pile of stuff in this vein. incidentally in the guardian at the weekend was some welsh rap band with 2 rappers , one of whom was called g-man ; different guy i presume? p
