I purchased the interview 12" for £5 a couple of months ago from someone who
was selling off part of his collection in order to finance the release of a
new Section 25 CD. I think I got a bit of a bargain.
I have, this morning, just picked up (from the post office sorting office) a
copy of the Newman / Izzo 12". As yet, I haven't played it so I don't know
what it is. It's a 500 copy limited edition on the i220 label. I might have
to get the afternoon off work so that I can rush home and give it a spin. If
I discover that it isn't THE Newman, I'll be most pissed off!

i gave cherry red a call and (quote) "we only deal in cd's these days , all the 7"/12" singles are deleted and sold out". so that route seems unlikely.
did you ever find it seems? i had a long fruitless search for c/suicide during which i occasionally saw it , i guess that's just sod's law. do you still want one? p

Interview 12" can still be found at some US mail order stores for around U$15. Check the links from Andrew's site - I found the Interview disc a couple of times during a fruitless search for It Seems (although this was about 8 months ago).
According to a mate of mine whos uncle works for Cherry Red Records, you may well be able to get a copy of MZUI by contacting them directly as they still have some kicking around.
Craig.

well i went over to the nec on saturday to what is allegedly the biggest record fair in the uk to see what i could find , huge place and pretty good really. a couple of years ago these fairs were all packed full of bootlegs bit someone must have warned them off so sadly its mostly legal stuff (i'm hoping to get both "comeback in 2 halves" and "not about to die" , so no luck on either).picked up 3 things anyway ;
if i die i die / v.prunes lp (for some reason i never got round to buying this , finally replaced my crappy old taped copy)
luna / outdoor miner 7" ; never seen this before , quite a good version but nothing spectacular. would've fitted ok onto whore. are these guys some of galaxie 500? ( i seem to recall that from somewhere)
ronnie & clyde / last hand ep ; nice laid back drum n bass type thing , i'd never heard them before. no vocals except a funny "deck of cards" sample on one track (max bygraves goes swim?). bit more ambient than the colin/malka stuff and worth tracking down.
didn't see too much wire stuff apart from this lot , quite a few of the emi singles for £10/12 a go but nothing else to get excited about. apparently you need to go to the smaller fairs to get bootlegs as the trading standards people only raid the big ones , so i am reliably informed.p

Commercial Suicide on vinyl? I know very well that I've seen a couple of
those around here on the used shelves ... possibly It Seems as well.

Not to gloat, but I just received a sealed copy of Commercial Suicide in
the mail today that I won on ebay for $6.00. Heehee. (OK,maybe a little
gloating...)

Subject: all about Colin
Hi everyone,
(1) The Newman/Izzo 12" is *definitely* our Colin Newman. He recorded
it in February with Corrado Izzo, based on a track from Finnish house DJ
Sasse. I have no idea what kind of distribution this thing is getting,
but if anybody knows how to get copies of this, please email the list!
(2) Also, the Swim webpage has been updated quite a lot. There's a
link to it from both the Wire Page and Wireviews, or you can go there
directly at:
http://www.kleber.net/swim
The main highlights are the artist pages and Colin's discography, which
contains many images of rare and new albums (slow modems beware!).

Of course, *if* it's still at the store I remember seeing it at, the price
tag'll be more like $2 ... (Then again, those 2 copies of the Newman
interview disc were $2.50 each, so I've probably used up all my luck for the
remainder of the year.)
On the off chance that anyone out there wants a vinyl copy of A Bell is a
Cup, there's one in the $2.50 pile I retrieved the Newmans from.

Actually, I have a copy of Commercial Suicide on vinyl that I'm
willing to part with for free (well, the taker would have to pay
shipping), as long as it's going to a good home. It's in very good
condition -- I didn't have a turntable, so I played it long enough to
tape it.
The first person to claim it gets it.

It's sort of Dance music. It's got Colin doing the vocals on one side and
just instrumental on the other. I don't know who this guy Izzo is. There
isn't much info on the plain sleeve, apart from a sticker. I bought it from
Carbon Disks.
It's okay, but I wouldn't bother unless you're a serious Newman collector.
(although I've only managed to listen to it once, and that was a very
disturbed listen - young lad running around skriking!)

no , it was the cd i couldn't find. i got a us (enigma?) vinyl copy a few years ago (with a sort of promotional sticker on the cover with reviews etc) . but i could never find a cd (and still havn't). i got an it seems cd a few years ago and i've seen it a few times on vinyl and cd since ; you'd think c/s maybe sold better and thus more copies in circulation but it appears not. p
