The Interview 12" was available via WMO for five minutes a few years ago. I have never come across MZUI which is strange because I came across a book full of reviews of "New Wave" stuff in a dollar store and it actually had a review of MZUI. I mention that because it's one of the few things WMO hasn't reissued. I saw 3r4 on vinyl (quite cheap) and I should've bought it because it's really fun to mangle long pieces like that. Did anyone get that Can remix album from a couple of years ago? I know nothing about Can but I bought it for the "Bruce Gilbert Remix" but as it turns out there are wicked tracks on the 2nd disc. I would like to read someone's thoughts on that Thurston Moore remix disc? What's Bruce's track like? Is it another of those lovely superzenstate pieces like the 2nd track on Esse or his HSO remix? >-- End of excerpt from paul.rabjohn@tunnplat.ssab.se ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1999 07:08:39 -0800 (PST) From: kevin eden Subject: Re: Kollkshun f'sayle Before a lengthy debate on MZUI ensues. For the record. These Records attempted to license MZUI from Cherry Red many moons ago for CD release. They were given very stringent and unreasonable terms despite the fact that Cherry Rd have no intention of releasing it themselves. It's totally different field recordings from the exhibition edited together in a continuous, but not terribly musical, way. Personally I think it's cool but of course I have *the* worst taste in music! If you can't stand the Australian version then you won't care for the original. Drones, noises, people banging on things, eerie ambience... it's all there. It's nice but not something you can't do by yourself. I see I've spent my point oh two dollars... i ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1999 12:33:43 -0600 (CST) From: flaherty michael w Subject: Re: Kollkshun f'sayle On Fri, 29 Jan 1999, IBRAHIM BOZAI wrote: > I would like to read someone's thoughts on that Thurston Moore remix disc? > What's Bruce's track like? Is it another of those lovely superzenstate > pieces like the 2nd track on Esse or his HSO remix? They are remixes of one-minute-long solo guitar pieces. Bruce's track is a slow, electronic rumble. Many of the other 24 are quite different, which is exactly the point. I'm not going to formally recommend this CD; if you hate "In Esse," my guess is that you should skip it. I love both solo Bruce and Moore in general, so that I really like the album is hardly a surprise.
