Hello. I'm here. Nowt to say at the moment though. I am waiting for my
copy of the Wire video to arrive from Uri at the moment. When I've watched
that a few times I'll probably have something useful to talk about. I just
hope I haven't had my expectations raised too much. I normally hate music
videos (the only ones I've got that I still watch on a regular basis are:
Sons Find Devils - Virgin Prunes; Perverted By Language Bis - The Fall;
Faster Than Lightning - The Only Ones: Best Of - Nick Cave. If the Wire
video is on a par with these, then I'll be a very happy chappy.
Hope the list wakes up soon. I'm getting fed up of receiving the digest
with only one short note in it!

Actually, that can be changed. I could set the digest to wait till we have x number of KB of message text, then a digest will be sent, instead of its current setting (a digest every day there's at least one submission). However, if I do this and the list remains at its current level of inactivity, it could be literally weeks between digests.
I'd like to hear from you digest subscribers as to which format you'd prefer.
later,
Miles

Thankfully, the combination of Maynard & Conway's visual technique and
Wire's art school backgrounds ensured their videos were something more
than the usual 'stand in front of the camera and sing' variety. And
even when they were (So and Slow it Grows) the use of effects and
imagery ensured the results were always interesting. 'Kidney Bingos'
has the most stars I've ever seen in a music video and 'Ahead' is a
wonderfully brooding claustrophobic piece.
And then there's 'B'. God knows what Colin & the gang were on when
this video was conceived but it is like some kind of real life cartoon.
Does anyone know who was responsible for this video (ie: concept /
direction)? Big smilies and such-like to anyone who can tell me ...
Craig.
