It's fantastic! The CD itself is worth the $7 cost. There's also a track called "Jazz devil" which is as smooth as humanly possible. I can't even listen to it without putting on sunglasses. Anyhow, if you don't live near a decent record store, then call 800-221-3148 to find out where a local retailer is. That's the customer service number of Eastern News Distributers, who are handling the US distribution. That's how I found the mag. If you live in Iowa, then you're probably out of luck; let me know and I'll pick up a copy for you. Ladies and gentlemen, this list has been in operation eight+ months, and *that* was the first spam that got through to the list. We're routinely hit with much more than that, but thanks to Jeff Wasiliko, the man who makes smoe.org go, 99% of it is filtered out and never hits the list. I think now is a good time for all of us to take a moment to appreciate his services. In the meantime, I've unsubbed the "spammer." The person may well have thought they were passing on legit info. Or maybe not. They can apply to me for reinstatement if they so desire. In the meantime, tonight I'm going to curl up with the majordomo commands to see if we can tighten things up a bit here. later, listowner Miles - --- /====================================================================\ | Miles Goosens outdoorminer@mindspring.com | | http://www.rsteviemoore.com outdoorminer@zdnetmail.com | | http://www.mindspring.com/~outdoorminer | | | | "Why everything has to get in the way all the time I don't know." | | -- Janet Ingraham Dwyer | \====================================================================/ Free web-based email, anytime, anywhere! ZDNet Mail - http://www.zdnetmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Nov 1998 22:05:37 -0600 From: Miles Goosens Subject: Our "Spammer" Pt. 2 I've readded BillyD to the list. I'm sorry for any embarrassment I may have caused him by using the word "spammer" in conjunction with him. Hopefully Billy and all of you can follow the logic below: When I saw the infamous, all-too-familiar virus warning post come across the list today, I was accessing the listmail from work. This meant that I was blocked from accessing the archives to see if Billy was a longstanding member or an idle opportunist. I couldn't remember whether I'd seen the name before or not, but given that the list was being hit with dubious content from a person posting from a freemail account, I decided to take the strongest safeguards to protect the list, so I unsubbed BillyD's account. Now that I've made it home, I have of course determined that Billy was -- and made sure that he is again -- a genuine subscriber. My mistake was in posting such a strongly-worded "spammer" post to the list at large before ascertaining all the facts. I was upset to see something I regarded as junk (though even in that message I hope I held out the possibility that it was well-intentioned junk) come across *my* list, which I take pride in keeping junk-free, and I was eager to prove to everyone that I was on the case of anything that might endanger your mailboxes, hence the tone of my message. I would not want to do anything that would chill the atmosphere of the list and make people think that we could have anything less than free and open discussion here. I'm hardly looking to kick people off if they make a "newbie" mistake -- heck, even at my relatively experienced age, I still sometimes post to a list instead of sending a private message, or send a draft out instead of the finished product. So no one here should be living in fear that I'll tar their name over some minor transgression. Anyway, I hope BillyD's name is now sufficiently cleared, any bad vibes are dispelled, and we can all order t-shirts from Charles and live happily ever after. peace out, listowner Miles ================================================== Miles Goosens R.
