Andrew - Guaranteed that Colin will NOT play Phoenix. Unfortunately he's under the illusion that he can get the same $$$ in the US than he can in Europe. If anyone on the list is in the club business, please confirm what you'd pay for the Swim~ night at your venue. BTW _ has anyone actually seen Uri's video? Merge - Evidently the magazine has sold so well, that they're all worried about the next print run. Both Daggan and Andreas from Origin are involved in it. BTW - my partner makes a guest vocal appearance at the beginning of Urania! Ronnie & Clyde are also on the sampler CD. Well worth the $7.00 cover price as it's actually an interesting magazine to boot! Now where are all those T-Shirt Orders? charles ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Nov 1998 06:20:30 -0800 From: "charles / wmo" Subject: Wire Mail Order Bulletin 11/98 NEW RELEASES FROM WMO Following on from their last compilation (cf Various Artists Play Wire "Whore") WMO are pleased to announce the release of "Dugga Dugga Dugga" (WMO 8CD). In a logical (to us anyway) extension WMO invited 14 artists to put their own spin on Wire's "Drill". Contributors include Chris & Cosey, Malka Spigel, Solex, Electric Company, Mego, Legion of Green Men, Band Of Susans as well as many 'hitherto unknown' artists, all providing their own decidedly "electric" take on the same Wire song. The master tapes were then handed to Mark Gage (aka Vapourspace) who assembled the final continuous mix. As Bruce Gilbert has been quoted, "There can never be enough Drills' in the world." We couldn't agree more! WMO are also relieved to finally announce the release of the 1983 cult classic album "Whilst Climbing Thieves Vie For Attention" (WMO 11CD) from P'o (pronounced "poe"). Fronted by Graham Lewis and Bruce Gilbert as a reaction to their studio work (Dome, Cupol, etc...), this band effort included A.C. Marias, drummer Peter Price and vocalist/artist David Tidball. The reissue includes two tracks left off the original album, plus an additional 4 alternate mixes. Please note that this release is a strictly limited edition! Both releases are available from http://wiremailorder.com/ for $12.00 each. Also available is the extremely limited edition DUGGA t-shirt. Details for all our Mail Order goods may be had at catalog@wiremailorder.com for customers in the US and Canada, and at ukcatalogue@wiremailorder.com for our European customers. PLEASE note that we depend on your support of our Mail Order business to keep us viable. Don't kid yourself, Record Shops are not screaming to stock our releases. Order direct! NEXT Furthermore, WMO are pleased to announce the formation of the 1000 label. Beginning in 1999, the label will release non-Wire related recordings. Simply, 1000 will not adhere to specific genres, but strive to release new music that may otherwise be left unheard. Our first releases include the Gentle Giant sample exercise "Knots" and the debut from DJ Fake, "Serieux Vol". Submissions are now being accepted. WE WANT YOU WMO invites anyone interested in reviewing a WMO title or writing about WMO, Wire or its members, or programming a WMO release at their radio station, to contact us at press@wiremailorder.com ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V1 #155 *******************************
