These are the *only* comments I've heard about the tour, so if anyone else has anything to add, then please do. BTW, check out the Wire bboard on imusic.com for a discussion about what a jerk I am. Andrew - ---------- Forwarded message begins here ---------- About the gig in Bologna on 09.10.98 at the THEATRIUM and not LINK as firstly announced. First Ronnie and Clyde came on stage around 23.30hr, doin a DJ set. Later on Malka and Colin joined them and start playing MALKA SPIGEL material, a selection of old and new songs. Malka - guitar, voice; Colin - guitar, voice, Ronnie and Clyde - electronics. I think there was around 300 people and the atmosphere was o.k, however the sound could have been better But they have great songs and the audience liked it. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Nov 1998 15:45:04 -0600 From: "Mack" Subject: Re: WIRE INFO btw just to start a rumour... ;) i hear tell colin & company (family) plan a stateside journey david ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Nov 1998 13:56:22 -0800 (PST) From: Craig Grannell Subject: Another the 'A' list results. Hello everyone, I have read, sorted, and compiled all the 'A' lists I got from everyone (thanks to all those who sent one). The results can be found at (dah-da-dah) a cool and groovy new Wire site called Wireviews at http://www.snub.dircon.co.uk/wirehome.html. Okay, so it needs a plug! BTW, if any of you who are interested in the results have an e.mail only account (quite popular in the UK, I don't know about the US and elsewhere) and so can't go to the site then mail me at cngrannell@yahoo.com and I'll send you the results. I've heard the same rumor. :) I've also heard, although less reliably, that the tour would be early next year. And given the distribution of the WMO people, I suspect that NYC and LA will be two of the venues. And if they perform in LA, they *better* perform in Phoenix (where I am!). But of course no one should believe a word I'm saying. I'm only in it for the money. Hox also sounds like an extension of the HSO project, very similar to a few of the tracks on 'catch supposes' but a bit grittier. very boss! overall a very worthwhile purchase...the disc also includes tracks by matmos, barry adamson, funkstorung and even omala. the magazine itself? quite varied...articles about anti-sound, rauschenberg, mouse on mars. the expose on disinformation by joe banks himself is quite illuminating. anyway i digress. more info is available at http://www.mergemag.com . enjoy. doug - -- rorshach@execpc.com http://www.execpc.com/~rorshach/index.html There are so many groups now that just play the same things over and over, and this is why i had to get rid of a lot of people in the group because they felt that was it, they've mastered their instrument and think, "oh well, I can play the same chord brilliantly for six minutes", which is ah - you should get a bleedin' machine to do that. You know, the thing is to play it with an inflection. -Mark E. Smith, 1985 ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V1 #154 *******************************
