Dear all The list has surfaced again so I thought you wouldn't mind hearing that while listening to the Detroit Tigers radio network during a visit to the motor city this week I heard, to my utter delight, a tiny snip of Eardrum Buzz as we returned from a commercial break. Obviously some sound engineer on the station (WJR 760AM I think) is a closet fan attempting to subvert the baseball audience into Wire freaks. Gob bless him/her. On an unrelated point, can anyone explain why there are so many different covers available on the Wire Peel Sessions Album in the US and Canada. I have seen at least four. Still, it is gratifying that so many stores here have a Wire slot in their racks, if only it were so in the UK. I know the vinyl has 4 tracks and a cover with text only, the cassette and CD have the band photo and extra songs (my CD has a glow-in-the-dark cover!!), and the CD was just reissued with a red cover and band photo. Typical marketing / manufacturing stuff! As for Canadian, I can't say. Does Colin Sing on it....or just play guitar? The WMO circular said that Ben (Colin's son?) plays on the alblum!? How old is he? Is this some sort of ploy to capitalize on the market that the Partridge family relinquished? I have seen at least four. This surprised me a bit too at first. I've managed to get most of the pictures on the web page. Here are the ones I've seen: (1) The original with only 4 songs. This has a grey color and lists various other bands who have done Peel Sessions. The album and cassette covers are slightly different - the album has a funny NASA-like logo for Wire. Unfortunately, I didn't buy the album and I can't find it now, so only the cassette is on the web page. I could kick myself. (2) The Legendary Manchester Wire bootleg. Ugly slime green color. (3) UK issue. Glow in the dark. Need I say more? (4) Canadian print. Two versions of the same picture, with one in green and the other in red. (5) The reissue. Some bizarre red design. I blame WMO. :) As for why there are so many different covers... Wire certainly had nothing to do with (1) and (2), and perhaps with the others as well. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 18:41:28 -0400 (EDT) From: Andrew N Westmeyer Subject: Re: Hey little girl, come see, My Pet Fish I *think* my answers here are current. The Swim webpage is currently being updated, so anything goes for the moment. Excerpts from mail: 28-Sep-98 Hey little girl, come see, .. by CliveNice@aol.com > Is it released yet? The last info I have says no, but it also promises a September release. So either it is released or it will be any day now. HOWEVER, orders for it are already being taken. > Does Colin Sing on it....or just play guitar? Remember, this is Malka's album, not Colin's. As far as I know, Colin's role is minimal. And I'm pretty sure that Malka does all the singing. But I don't know any of this for sure. > The WMO circular said that Ben (Colin's son?) plays on the alblum!? How > old is he? He's 9 or 10 now (he was born around the time of It Seems, although "The Rite Of Life" is *not* about him, if I remember correctly).
