So what have been the best selling WMO releases? What ever happened to the Colin Newman demos and the Ex-Liontamers CDs? Damn straight... I will take 1 of each please. It seems and Commercial Suicide era Colin Newman is probably one of my favorite parts of the Wire experience, the outtakes and demos would really complete my collection. As well as the original "Interview" on Cd... sigh... I don't have a record player... Actually, you're not missing much...while the music in the background is interesting (new music combined with excerpts of previous works that fade in and out), the actual spoken bits by Colin are somewhat boring and uninformative (except for when he refers to Wire as a "popular jazz combo"). Just when it starts to become interesting, the first side ends; then on side two, all you hear are some mumblings in the background from Colin. I don't see how anyone could have actually used this as an interview source (as was intended). As a novelty it's alright, I guess. Definitely a good joke on the industry, upping its credentials a bit. Actually, I have had interview since it came out on vinyl, but I had to get it coppied to cassette as I have never owned a record player. I was actually quite fond of it, the way all the commercial suicide and singing fish stuff was floating around all over the place. On side two I always had fun trying to guess what he was saying. I figured for the most part it sounded like he was looking through a studio window and naming all the people looking back at him sort of like "Oh there's Malka Spiegel" "And there goes John Bonner" or whatever... kinda funny. Oh well, I am into collecting the WHOLE puzzle, so I miss not having interview on a format I can use. Hell the band I have been in for the past 5 years has a single out on vinyl that I really like but will probably never see CD either... Bummer, sort of like old Translator albums.... Retrospective collections blow, but I digress...
