I'm almost certain I've them play it. It's possible. Someone also once told me that they used to cover "Sand in My Joints" back in the seventies. I did see Luna (with Stan Demeski from the Feelies) cover "Outdoor Miner" a few years ago, though..somewhat uneventful. I have noticed some advertisements in some music magazines lately for the band Spoon's new album, "A Series of Sneaks", which I obviously find to be so close in title to "A Serious of Snakes"! Anyone know Spoon's music, and if there's any Wire hommage in that title? Also: a few months back I saw a Luna cd single, I think it was a Spanish import, that has them doing a cover of "Outdoor Miner"! Does anyone have this, and is it any good (I like Luna quite a bit & I'd assume it is)... Especially 'Ambitious' Cheers, BillyD p.s. It's great for any other Wire also. But I don't do that sort of thing anymore. :-( == Piggy Po' I'm a Po' Piggy _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? As a big Killing Joke fan, I'm a bit mystified by this comparison. Take your example; "Sanity" is melodramatic, anthemic, polemic/heroic, lamenting, with a war-march-ish tone. "Madman's Honey" is, by contrast, quirky, lightly melodic, surreal and not too self-serious (not to say there aren't at times serious themes). Judging from the time I saw KJ live, god bless Jaz Coleman, but he is quite a mega-ego, and I think he'd refuse to be anything but the Main Event. Personally, I seek out very different things when I put on the KJ vs the Wire. One thing I really respect about Wire is that their tone doesn't take itself too seriously (though I respect KJ for their conviction as well) - the closest thing in tone to KJ imo would be "Ambitious", and even there, the song deconstructs the idea of a power-hungry go-getter, while at the same time providing a strong motivational energy. (or maybe it's just me :)) Re: tripping down Wire lane, "Naked, Whooping, and Such-Like" can be very interesting in an altered state. Or so I've heard. ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V1 #84 ******************************
