OK - I lurk no longer FOR my .02 there are probably tons of syncophants but the Virgin Prunes connection is tenuous at best I like the general musical attitude argument, except no one in wire has fired so many band members a mark e Maybe we could leave it as a common niche mentality. Bothe bands generate output with little real commercial application Yet they have kept at it against all odds for an incredibly long time I know wire as an entity did not persevere quite so long in either formation. At very least, we could assume that both bands earliest days were of a similar time, and at the start, the distance between them musically was not so great. There are probably also mor than a few of you out there with Magazine, Joy Division and maybe even early Ultravox (a stretch I know, but Eno did produce the first album) in their collections. It is nice to see that so many of the older Fall cds are now available again at a lower price in the import format with all the xtra tracks. Unfortunately for me, i bought most of them at a premium. On another note, I picked up a couple 12"s over the weekend by Parade Ground, mainly 'cause they thank 'Colin and Malka' on one and Colin plays on the other. Haven't listened yet, but I will post back later when I have a chance. Nice to see this flurry of activity mack d ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Jun 1998 09:01:16 -0500 From: "Mack" Subject: Re: ? >Yeh I've been a Fall fan for years.Lost track of most of their stuff since >Extricate though. Smith was there as well working on one of his numerous releases! One of the engineers said that he'd bark about something, they say they'd tweaked it but actually change nothing, play the exact same thing over and Mr. Smith said "great, that's better!" !!! Was there ever a compilation Wire album of sorts where the entire album cover art was blank save for a slim wire which extended across the entire length of the album? If so, does anyone know what was included on this album? Where can I find it? This is such a great place to start. The 2-disc B sides compilation has some real gems, too.
