Yesterday I talked with the guy in charge of programming at one peculiar radio station here in Monterrey: they are one of two stations where eventually one can listen Carly Simon. They, like many others, are playing teenager's music most of the time BUT at least they have more than one program a day for oldies and / or older artists. Anyway, you can count the stations with music in English with the fingers of your hands! He told me he has no notice whatsoever of a new Carly Simon album. I told him she is with AristaRec and he said: " Well, I have just receive promotions for Carlos Santana and Whitney Houston, you know, but no CS ". So I told him the story of poor Arista promotion regarding Carly. He behaved, very willingly, and offered me that if I would like to, we could meet after July 7 ( because they will have the radio station's 23rd. Anniversary ). I will bring my CS's CDs and they will "burn" them into minidisc format, since it is the new format they are using now for their emissions. All I can do in the meantime is request CS's early hits, which I did already. The played Touched By The Sun, You're So Vain, Anticipation and Nobody Does It Better. I was nagging them on the phone from my office all afternoon and evening! So in two weeks they promised to copy my TBT CD to minidisc and air it. It's all I can do, I guess. bw, Margarita. ------------------------------ End of hotcakes-digest V3 #25 *****************************
