"Scar" certainly stands out, but I think she also is referring to the nasty things that are said about her in the press and on AOL in "We Your Dearest Friends". I think ARISTA should be promoting "Our Affair" as the single. It seems like it has the best chance of getting radio exposure. Clive Davis supposedly was high on "...Stars", but I don't see it. Perhaps Adult radio might play it, but that's it. (Hope I'm wrong!) OUR AFFAIR seems much more likely for radio, as Tom mentioned. Anyone by chance know what song Carly will be doing on Letterman tonight? On one hand, I'd assume STARS so that people will actually get to hear it, but...I wouldn't mind hearing my favorite, BIG DUMB GUY. - -----Original Message----- From: Manning, Thomas (Tom) [mailto:manning@lucent.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 17, 2000 8:38 AM To: hotcakes Subject: RE: Bedroom Tapes Importance: High Colin, Yes, it has been a really long wait...but worth it. I really do like "So Many Stars" and as was pointed out earlier, it will definitely be featured in supermarkets everywhere :-) but as far as having a hit single, I really think her only chance is "Our Affair" - the rest of the album seems to be the true Carly, for her fans who adore her albums. Perhaps "Big Dumb Guy" would have a shot, but actually "Our Affair" is catchy, and the lyrics won't confuse anyone - let's face it, not everyone can appreciate Carly's gift of lyric-writing. Tho I haven't heard this yet, if she does feel like that about AOL why would she still post there? Mind you, out of all the singers I like and who have places on the Net for them I must say that Carly fans seem to be the nastiest I have come across. Not all of course but my experience has been there seem to be quite a few nutters! None on this list of course! > I think ARISTA should be promoting "Our Affair" as the single. Here I am at my office and can not stop day dreaming. Here is 1100 hours and just two hours ago I was STILL at home because Carly's interview from Good Morning America (GMA) ABC News... I receive the ABC signal via cable tv from Denver and there it was 0807 hours when they linked to their central in, NYC ? And oh my dear friends: there was this woman from GMA riding a bicycle, a dog jogging by her side... the scenery was Martha's Vineyard... Then we hear the beautiful sound of an acoustic guitar and (fanfare) Carly Simon singing in her living room... The interview lasted only a few minutes, or so it seemed to me: it was brief but worth it! In about nine hours my husband is going to be back home again from Seattle where he told me he got TBT's CD... and video??? Does any one of you know what about a video??? I have not seen any film takes from the Bryant Park performance. Do you? Fare you well... Margarita. ------------------------------ End of hotcakes-digest V3 #6 ****************************
