Regarding Film Noir I can not say is my favourite but I sure like it... especially the song called "Film Noir", maybe because that is a Carly original... All you have to do is hold your partner, close your eyes and like dance together... That also applies to "Torch" and "My Romance", although I know those albums are not the most representative of Carly's opus. The list is so active and I just got "Clouds in My Coffee" for super cheap in a used CD store. I just had to dash off a quick note. Carly's music has played a huge role in my life. When I was 15, my favorite Carly song was "That's the Way I Always Heard it Should Be" which ran a close second to "Legend in Your Own Time." Anticipation will always remind me of fun times at the beach at night. For me, listening to Carly's catalog is a musical scrapbook. I remember when I first saw the movie "Working Girl." At the time, I didn't know that Carly had scored the movie. Although the movie itself is one of my all time faves, the song, "Let the River Run," just floored me. The movie came out at a time when I was making a huge life change. Just like the song and and movie, I really felt like "I was coming out of the fog..." But, my all time favorite Carly songs is "Boys in the Trees." It reminds me of the first time I came home from college for Spring break. Now it reminds me of my daughter when she came home from college for the first time this past Christmas. I made her a tape mix and "Boys in the Trees" was the first song. Her feet really do hang off the end of the bed. It's such a great song for a mother to give to her daughter. I guess I could say that Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell co-wrote the score of my life. Carly was the beautiful, sexy, big sister who made me privy to all her secret confessions and gave such great advice. Joni was the mysterious, cool blond big sister who made me feel she understood my teen aged angst. Bev Wolfe ------------------------------ End of hotcakes-digest V2 #31 *****************************
