The biggest surprise to me, apart from You're So Vain not winning, was that Vengeance was even nominated. Of all the great Carly songs for them to single out, sort of odd they picked that dud. I wonder if they will ever give Carly a Lifetime Acheivment Award? That would be nice and well deserved. I think it has one of Carly's best songs ever "We're So Close." I also really like the lyrics to "Vengeance." I just HATE the chorus where Carly screams the word "Vengeance" over and over again. Carly has such a perfect way with a melody and that song ain't got one. I remember when I first bought the album, I drove over to one of my best friend's house to play it. She was a huge Carly fan too. When I got there she said she had heard the new Carly song on the radio and she mimicked "vengeance, vengeance, vengeance..." saying "I thought boy, Carly this is really beneath you." And when I heard the album I agreed. I abslutely LOVE the way the song gets going "that's dangerous driving lady the policeman said.." but, again, I HATE the chorus. I know a lot of people hate Come Upstairs, too. But I really love that song a lot. It is fun, sexy and has a great beat. Come Upstairs was an experiment to try something new. Like most experiments, some of it didn't work, but I'm glad Carly was trying to do something different. Because when you are as talented as Carly even your worst results are worth a listen!
