[renatacr@solar.com.br] Favorite Covers ["Renata Cristina Bastos de Paiva" Subject: Replies Hello everybody and happy new year !! Time of vacation is finished and here i am to replie some of your questions. Firstable, there is an old tradition in Spain to celebrate the new year: EVERYBODY (alone, with the family or friends, at home, at work or in the restaurant...), is listening the midnight bells with a bunch of twelve grapes. Each grape is eated at the same time that bells rings. It's funny, and that represents the good luck for each month of the year. After that, the party goes on !!! Greatests hits from Arista ou others is always difficult. That's the reason because a long time ago I'd proposed to you to create a comp. of the hits of Carly including only the fans-choice. We supposed to vote, but nobody replies... Fav cover is Boys in the trees, and Another passenger because it's very "soft-pop-rock-love" as I love her. Finally, HBM is no so good, but there is on it, one of the most beautiful song of Carly ( and nobody talked about it): " You don't feel the same" . I buy this CD, ( I own it in vynile) only for this song. Just a note to say that I do like HBM a lot. I love "You Know What to Do" and "It Happens Everyday" and "Menemsha" (which I have yet to find out what means), "Such a Good Boy, " and of course, "You Don't Feel the Same." I kinda like "Floundering" but don't tell anyone. shhhhhh!!! Carly looks absolutely gorgeous, her mane indescribable, her blue dress stunning and the man silhouette to whom she's holding on to evokes a very paradigmatic image of the 30's and 40's. Unbeatable! Cheers! Ana Renata: te chamei de Fernanda no outro dia, porque tenho uma amigona (Renata), cuja irmã se chama Fernanda, e daí... já viu né? Você está passando férias fora da cidade? She looks so raw. So totally without abandon. So sensual. Also, "Boys in the Trees" has to be one of my favorite songs. It works on so many different levels. I love the fresh-faced horsey-ness of Best of, too. Another favorite is _Film Noir_ -- she just looks so . . .beautiful(although the liner pics are just awful and laughable in my opinion, but she looks like she is having fun.) I love _Hotcakes_ because she is pregnant, but she still has that gleam in her eye. And the title track my roomate and I used to annoy the piss out of my ex, Hope (we were all music majors -- I brought her to the dark side, she adores Carly now. . . :). I found _Hello Big Man_ at a used tape store. It was 99 cents, in bad shape and coverless. It is starting to go bad now. It sings along with Carly on "Orpheus". Could someone scan it and send it to me? and. . . I even kinda like the chessy pic on the back of _Another Passenger_. *giggles* Q HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 05 Jan 1999 19:31:13 +0200 From: "Hannele Hakala" Subject: Menemsha qusar@mindspring.com wrote: >Just a note to say that I do like HBM a lot. Hello dear e-friends: Regarding the covers matter I must agree with Ana Lucia because my favorite cover is also Torch, closely followed by No Secrets, the latter being also my favorite album as a hole, for mainly two reasons: (1) I like the songs. (2) It was my first contact with Carly because Santa Claus brought this LP one Christmas. I feel a shivering every time I listen to a non hit song from No Secrets, and this is The Carter Family... and very nostalgic I get when I listen to It Was So Easy. Nowadays, I also love Boys In The Trees, the whole album but especially the title song. Regarding Hello Big Man, well I can't remember now which song I don't like. One of my favorite songs is also Libby, from Another Passenger. I really like the begining of that song but by the time those children say "Menemsha" for the 40th thousand time I always feel like shouting "shut the f**k up!" But, instead, I just hit the "NEXT" button on my CD player. Most of my favorite Carly songs are not "hits" and I am more than capable of rooting out the profundity of any song. I just happened to state that I found that particular song to be annoying. I certainly didn’t expect someone to use that simple statement as an opening to opine about how much more sophisticated their own taste is!
