I haven't been that lucky (yet), but let's hope Carly will soon regain all of her uncommon strength, beauty and energy to offer us, once again, the privilege of being part of her music through her enchanted voice. Shawn, your web page dedicated to Carly is some voyage! Great! A wonderful week to you all. Hey Jim...just wanted to throw in my two cents....Welcome ....As far as Carly touring, that's anybody's guess at this point. I had heard that she was going to do a small tour of clubs like she did before her last tour. Want to see Carly in the perfect setting, see her in a club. I saw her at the Avalon in Boston and it was the most AWESOME experience.I was in the front row and she was literally 2 feet away from me....I have a web page dedicated to Carly that tells about that show, has some memorabilia, etc. as well as my 3 other "Carly encounters". I just updated a few things, but have alot more to add to it (just haven't had the time and my computer knowledge is limited). You can find my page at: http://www.capital.net/~shawnc/carly00.html I think you'll like it....hope you do! We're all crossing our fingers that Carly will tour again soon. I wish I was online during her last tour because it would be neat to meet alot of her online fans....Best wishes. So, I have spent my WE with her, looking to her personal videotape " My romance". She's great, what a charming voice ! She looks happy and she is beautiful ! I love these songs. Duet with Harry Connic Jr. is wonderful and tender and the new version of " No secrets " was very very good !!! Hope to see her again. Oh yes... the My Romance Video... of course she is great... of course she is a giant magnet... since the first "When I was very young ... .." notes she captures one until the end. My husband puts it on every morning just before he leaves for work... ... I guess it is some sort of consolation, the solace seeing Carly brings before departure to the jungle outside! This way one leaves peacefully and if nothing bad happens one drives better and it is in a more receptive attitude. We videotaped a concert she gave in 1995 at Grand Central Station in NYC. It was on TV and so we recorded it... Does anyone know if there is an "official" video of this concert? Jim, welcome from another recent subscriber to this great list. I found an index of lists/hotcakes under smoe.org.hotcakes. You can catch up onall the posts to date that way. If it doesn't work, I'm sure that Colin (the originator of this list) will set you right! As for a Carly tour, wouldn't it be great! I'd probably have to save my bucks to visit my family in the States (where I'm from) to go. I misssed Carly's most recent tour, but was fortunate enough to see her in 1978 at the Bottom Line in New York City when she did the Boys in the Trees tour. What a wonderful experience--a small club with great sight lines. James was surveying the crowd from the shadows and of course joined her for a duet or two. I'd just graduated from university and went with my best friend from high school who was/is a big Carly fan. She was great--no real sign of nerves, and in fabulous voice. Now that we're all 20 years older, here's hoping we all get a chance to experience Carly live. But if not, her albums will continue to be consolation and inspiration. Hope you all are having a lovely day, wherever you are. It's a buzz to see that Carly has fans from all over the globe. Look forward to reading more from you about how you first discovered Carly and her music. Nancy Fithian ------------------------------ End of hotcakes-digest V1 #83 *****************************
